District:Hamtramck Public Schools POSITION OVERVIEW:Provide support to the Finance Department by analyzing, performing and monitoring accounting transactions,preparing monthly financial statements and other required financial reports, assisting with the developmentand management of the budget, and supporting both internal and year-end audit processes. This positionrequires an organized professional with the ability to execute at a high level with independence,thoroughness and accuracy. This position reports to the Finance Manager and works closely with the PayrollCoordinator, Accounts Payable Secretary, HR Specialists, and the State and Federal Programs department.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:? Associates Degree in Accounting or Finance, with recent accounting experience. Bachelor's Degree ispreferred.? Experience with K-12 public school fund accounting preferred.? Trial balance experience preferred.? Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.? Experience with WCRESA SMART software preferred.? Ability to work independently, solve problems, and make good decisions in accordance with establishedpolicies and procedures required.? Ability to communicate cooperatively and effectively with staff and external entities required.? Ability to exercise discretion regarding confidential information required.? Ability to manage busy workload, multiple projects and meet deadlines required.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:? Process financial transactions of the district including draw down grant funds, receipts, disbursements,journal entries, general ledger maintenance and reconciliations.? Prepare bank deposits and enter cash receipts.? Perform month end closing activities, reconcile liability accounts monthly, and prepare monthly financialstatements.? Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly.? Reconcile district credit card activity monthly.? Prepare invoices for various billings.? Assist in preparation and monitoring of annual budgets and periodic budget amendments.? Support departments and buildings with accounting functions.? Serve as backup for the accounts payable and payroll functions.? Assist with preparing various financial reports as requested by the Director of Finance including but notlimited to: Quarterly Medicaid cost reports, annual FID, SE4094, SE4096, Maintenance of Effort, FinalExpenditure Reports.? Perform year end closing activities and post accrual journal entries.? Prepare schedules, gather information and assist auditors as needed.? Must attend WCRESA workshops related to Finance.? Other duties as assigned by the Finance Manager.
REPORTS TO: Finance ManagerTerms of Employment: 52 Weeks, 40 hours per weekSalary: $65,000 to $85,000
