This position is located in Nursing Services of the Anderson-Oconee-Pickens Mental Health Center, 1 Linwa Boulevard, Anderson, SC 29621.
Under general supervision, serves as Nursing Manager for the Anderson-Oconee-Pickens Mental Health Center three-county catchment area. Provides direct nursing care and supportive counseling to patients at the Anderson County Clinic.
Position responsibilities include but no limited to the following:
Perform nursing duties which include administration and monitoring of medication for all assigned patients, recording and monitoring medication usage, and responding to medical emergencies at the Anderson Clinic when available. Acts as the alternate to the providers for Clozaril, ensuring labs are ordered, and acts as liaison between the labs, pharmacy and patient. Ensures continuity of care for patients being discharged from inpatient facilities or transferring from other catchment areas, and coordinates with community stake holders as necessary.
Coordinates and manages all Anderson-Oconee-Pickens Mental Health Center (AOPMHC) nursing services, ensuring the smooth and efficient overall operation of the clinic in accordance with Quality Assurance Standards. Evaluates the productivity and effectiveness of nursing staff, meets with nursing staff for regular supervision, and serves as Employee Performance Management System (EPMS) reviewer for all center nursing staff.
Supervises and directs all nursing programs for the center as Nursing Manager. Coordinates nursing programs and policy for the center to include infection control, provision of nursing services in the three counties, closed point of dispensing for medications, assists and advises Medical Director, and attends all center medical staff meetings. Advises center director regarding nursing policy.
Manages the combined sample medication supply ensuring adequate stock is maintained, logs are completed, and stock is rotated. Ensures prescribed medications, long acting injectables among others, are adequately stocked and ensures communication with necessary pharmacies to order and/or stop prescriptions as needed. Meets monthly with the state pharmacist for medication audits. Acts as nursing liaison to SCDMH.
Oversees and ensures nurses are trained to and provide PASARR screening for nursing home access, CPR training for AOP staff, and Infection Control services- inclusive of TB skin testing and Hepatitis. Maintains all first aid kits for AOP and Narcan.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
State Requirement: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and related nursing experience.
Center Requirement: A bachelor's degree in nursing or an associate degree in nursing and one (1) year experience in psychiatric nursing. Licensure as a registered nurse by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina.
Ability to travel between the three county-catchment area of the Anderson-Oconee-Pickens Mental Health Center.
