Job Summary :PIC Group has an excellent opportunity for a Vice President of Engineering position in Anchorage, AK. The Vice President of Engineering leads the engineering division's management team for an energy services corporation. This role involves defining the strategic vision, nurturing a strong leadership group, and overseeing all engineering functions within the organization. The Vice President of Engineering ensures alignment between the engineering team's objectives and the company's goals by fostering strong internal and external partnerships. The Vice President of Engineering position plays a key role in driving the company's engineering projects while contributing to the overall operational success. Essential Duties and Responsibilities :• Direct and manage engineering and construction activities for infrastructure.• Review and authorize designs and construction projects for new electrical facilities, ensuring uninterrupted service.• Develop and support both short- and long-term construction plans, in addition to overseeing associated budgets to meet the organization's goals.• Evaluate current procedures, compare them to industry leaders, and implement improvements to enhance service efficiency and productivity.• Identify opportunities for business growth and recommend innovations for optimizing operational performance.• Propose and secure approval of organizational structures and staffing plans to address current needs and future growth.• Lead recruitment, training, and staff development initiatives, obtaining necessary approvals for personnel changes.• Guide the preparation and approval of capital and expense budgets for the engineering division.• Oversee system planning and engineering studies to ensure sufficient capacity and system reliability.• Manage labor relations for the division, propose modifications to union agreements, and oversee the enforcement of labor contracts in collaboration with HR leadership.• Act as representative in collaborations with other utilities and external agencies.• Provide leadership in achieving divisional objectives, offering guidance, conducting performance reviews, and overseeing evaluations for managerial and professional staff.• Update professional engineering standards and ethical guidelines for the division.• Serve as an expert witness to support company interests when required.• Champion safety initiatives, ensuring the implementation of programs to maintain a safe work environment.• Establish divisional policies and provide strategic direction in line with corporate goals, seeking approval when necessary.• Participate in strategic planning initiatives to shape the company's future direction.• Represent company in legal and regulatory matters, as needed.• Present reports and materials to executive leadership, the Board of Directors, and external forums when required.

Job Requirements :• Extensive knowledge of electric utility operations, construction, and maintenance, with a focus on challenges presented by cold climates.• Strong working knowledge of tools, materials, and equipment used in the construction and maintenance of electrical systems.• Familiarity with relevant standards and regulations, including the National Electrical Safety Code, OSHA, and RUS specifications.• Experience with budgeting and financial management.• Understanding of municipal, state, and federal regulations.• Ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.• Leadership skills, including the ability to mentor and resolve conflicts among staff.• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.

Physical Requirements :• The role involves both office-based tasks and fieldwork, which may occasionally include working during outages or emergencies.• Periodic field visits are required.• Occasional travel is necessary, both locally and out of town.

Education / Experience :• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required, preferably with a focus on power systems.• A Master's degree in Engineering Management or Business Administration is preferred.• Additional training in utility construction, planning, and operations is an asset.• Professional Engineering (PE) certification in the State of Alaska is required. Must be obtained within 6 months, (during new hire probationary period)• NRECA Management Intern Program certification is a plus.• 10+ years of progressive experience in engineering design, construction, and maintenance of electrical infrastructure, including supervisory roles.• Experience working with substations, transmission lines, and underground systems in a utility setting is essential.• Previous experience in a unionized environment is preferred.
