What You'll Do

We’re looking for a Sr. Associate, Foundation/Community Relations to join our Principal Foundation team! In this role, you’ll be a key member of the Principal Foundation and Principal Community Relations (F/CR) team. The position combines program and project management responsibilities with active relationship management, research, and internal/external communications.

Program Strategy and Development and Relationship Management Responsibilities:

Research strategic issue areas relevant to F/CR work; conduct due diligence for prospective sponsorships and programs.

Actively maintain relationships with external vendors and community-based organizations, including supervising program and contract results.

Represent the enterprise and F/CR by participating in employee activations, national conferences, site visits, presentations, and convenings.

Build and maintain internal and external connections with team members, including international partners, and identify strategic opportunities.

Work with the Communications and Brand/Content Studio units to develop story strategy and deliver and activate on content related to employee community service across the globe.

Develop annual activation calendar and event flighting strategy, in conjunction with Director and other F/CR team members.

Project Management and Execution Responsibilities:

Lead F/CR’s activation projects as set forth in its annual calendar, including identifying strategic collaborations with community organizations, coordinating with groups across the enterprise, and leading community organizations and third-party vendors to ensure that programs and events meet stated goals.

Assist Principal employees, retirees, and advisors with CSR tool and provide technical training on use of CSR tool.

Who You Are

Bachelor’s degree, with a minimum of 5 years’ work experience, preferably in the nonprofit or philanthropic sectors.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with planning and organizational skills and high attention to detail, accuracy, and protocol.

Excellent writing ability accompanied by outstanding interpersonal skills, customer service skills, and proven presentation skills.

Executive presence to serve as an excellent brand and enterprise representative, represent the enterprise and F/CR among constituents, including senior executives, global leaders and organizations and employees.

Experience balancing multiple projects simultaneously and ability to take ownership of assigned projects.

Ability and availability to travel, including some international travel.

Ability and availability to work evenings and weekends, as required.

Written and oral fluency in English; secondary language proficiency highly desirable.

Sophisticated knowledge of Microsoft Suite.

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$57000 - $77900 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

Work Environments

This role offers hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek) work arrangements in our Des Moines, IA office.
