The Role:

We are currently partnered with an ENR ranked General contractor known for their Commercial construction expertise looking to bolster their footprint in the Texas market. With a pipeline of projects across K-12, Mission Critical, Hospitality & commercial, they have a steady flow of projects ranging from $25M to $380M.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with project stakeholders, including owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Lead the preparation of detailed and accurate cost estimates for large-scale commercial projects, including labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Oversee the development and review of project budgets, ensuring alignment with client expectations and project requirements.
  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and proposals to determine scope and cost effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with the pre-construction team and Project Managers to ensure estimates are accurate and align with overall project goals.
  • Develop bid packages and work closely with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing.
  • Monitor and manage the bid process, ensuring timely submission of all required documentation.
  • Provide value engineering options and cost-saving recommendations to improve project profitability.
  • Maintain and update historical cost data for future project use.
  • Lead and facilitate pre-bid and post-bid meetings to clarify project scope, answer questions, and address concerns.
  • Mentor and supervise junior estimators, providing guidance, feedback, and training opportunities.
  • Stay current on industry trends, market conditions, and material costs to ensure competitive and accurate pricing.
  • Perform additional estimating duties as required.

Role Requirements:

  • 6+ years of experience in estimating large-scale commercial projects in Texas, over $50M in value.
  • Proven track record in developing accurate estimates from pre-construction through project completion.
  • Bachelors Degree in Construction ManagementCivil EngineeringArchitecture, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and cost estimation software (such as ProEst, Sage, or similar).
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop estimating staff.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy.
  • Certification in relevant construction and estimating courses (preferred).
