Director of Operations (Hybrid)

Blue Sky is looking for an experienced Director of Operations for our client.
The Director of Operations is responsible for managing all hands-on operational aspects of the renovation process of school cafeteria facilities, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This position requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills to manage various aspects of the renovation process, from initial planning to final execution.
Responsibilities:
1) Staff Management:
- Provide day-to-day leadership and management that mirrors the adopted mission and core values of the company.
- Establish and develop a high-performing and scalable team.
- Support, supervise, and evaluate the performance of all team members/direct reports responsible for school renovation projects to ensure work is carried out efficiently and correctly.
- Lead company efforts to create job descriptions, hire competent operations personnel, and oversee related training programs.
2) On-Site Supervision:
- Oversee all on-site installation activities, ensuring compliance with design plans, specifications, and safety standards.
- Coordinate with school staff to minimize disruption to daily activities and act as the primary on-site point of contact for contractors, suppliers, and school representatives.
- Supervise subcontractors, tradespeople, and laborers to ensure that the work is carried out efficiently and correctly.
- Conduct site inspections to monitor progress and quality of work.
3) Project Management:
- Oversee all phases of renovation projects, from pre-renovation through completion.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Develop and maintain detailed renovation reporting, documentation, and schedules coordinating with other stakeholders to ensure timely completion.
- Communicate with senior management to keep the project aligned with company goals.
4) Budget Management:
- Develop, monitor, and manage renovation budgets (to implement cost control measures to ensure profitability).
- Develop/respond to prospective client service proposals (RFPs), negotiate contracts, and ensure all external parties deliver services and materials according to client agreements.
- Oversee allocation of staffing resources and responsibilities for company priorities.
- Procure, manage, and allocate resources, including labor, materials, and equipment.
5) Quality Control & Safety Management:
- Implement quality control procedures to ensure that all work meets the required standards and specifications.
- Resolve any issues related to workmanship or materials (to include manufacturer warranty) that arise during renovation and post-installation.
- Enforce safety regulations on-site to ensure a safe working environment for all (including students, school staff and service personnel).
- Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
6) Documentation and Reporting:
- Define, implement and revise company Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs) and Training Plans for company operations efforts.
- Track and analyze project performance using key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Develop and implement staff evaluation parameters.
- Report on operational metrics to senior management and recommend improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Renovation Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in renovation management, with a focus on renovation projects, and a minimum of 3 years of project management experience.
- Strong understanding of renovation methods, materials, and regulations.
- Excellent organizational, leadership skills, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to set goals and tasks.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Proficiency in Project Management software that integrates with Salesforce.
- OSHA certification or equivalent safety training is a plus.
- Able to pass a Level 2 background check.
Working Conditions:
- This is a hybrid role that involves working from home and traveling to on-site environments. Regular site visits are required to monitor project progress and ensure safety and quality standards compliance.
- The position may require extended hours, including weekends, depending on project timelines and demands.
- Will require about 50% travel based on project needs.
