Role Overview:
This role oversees all medical operations of the hospital department, including clinical, surgical, and daily activities. Responsibilities encompass workflow management, supervision, development, and scheduling of veterinary support staff, as well as ensuring the effectiveness of departmental policies and protocols.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Direct Management
- Supervise and manage the veterinary technician team and hospital operations.
- Collaboration with Executive Director
- Work closely with the Executive Director of Medicine (Owner/DVM) to ensure adherence to hospital protocols, quality control, and medical standards.
- Hands-On Leadership
- Act as a floor manager to train, guide, and direct the veterinary technician team.
- Inventory Oversight
- Manage inventory to ensure supplies are stocked and organized.
- Team Meetings
- Direct and facilitate daily and monthly hospital team meetings.
- Work Culture
- Foster a positive work environment and support a strong team culture.
- Scheduling
- Create and maintain the veterinary technician work schedule, ensuring coverage and appropriateness for all hospital positions. Publish schedules at least three weeks in advance.
- Reporting
- Report directly to the Executive Director of Medicine (Owner/DVM).

Qualifications:
- Previous Experience
- Proven experience as a Veterinary Technician.
- Leadership Experience
- Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Advanced Knowledge
- Expertise in veterinary operations and procedures, including surgery, laboratory techniques, digital imagery, pharmaceuticals, and critical or emergency medical care.
- Multitasking Ability
- Capable of managing multiple tasks and interruptions in a dynamic environment with periodic heavy workloads.
- Problem-Solving Skills
- Ability to anticipate, identify, and address problems effectively, with strong communication skills.
- Conflict Resolution
- Excellent skills in managing and resolving conflicts.
- Emergency Response
- Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations.
- Communication Skills
- Proficient in conveying complex processes and concepts clearly, both verbally and in writing.
- Technical Proficiency
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to use required veterinary clinic software.
