Senior Scrum Master - MUST be US-based and commit to working Pacific Time zone office hours. You must have previous Agile Scrum Master experience. Seeking someone with Technical Project Management experience.

At Hyperdrive, we expect for you to be a master of your craft. Your role is to offer insights and counsel to leaders of some of the world’s leading companies through teaching, coaching, and mentoring others in Agile, leadership, and operating strategies.

As a Senior Scrum Master, you will facilitate the Scrum (or Kanban) Framework with teams and/or programs within the business units where you’ll focus on implementing Agile practices & processes (lead events and facilitate change management) as well as helping team members develop fluency in their Agile role. You’ll also be the person helping manage the resolution of team impediments. This work includes the continuous improvement of a teams’ Agile behaviors by using Agile principles and practices.

We want to know your story and what makes you a great Agilist. Generally speaking, here are some thoughts on your minimum qualifications:

Senior Scrum Master

  • At least 5 years Scrum Mastering Agile Teams
  • At least 5 years of Technical Project Management experience
  • 8+ years of Agile team experience
  • 3+ years of large-scale Agile coaching experience with methods such as Scrum, Lean, or Kanban.
  • Experience in kickstarting a Agile Teams and team scaling (e.g. Team of Teams)
  • Experience in managing others
  • Have great skills on being an effective facilitator at the Program level
  • Knows Agile (Scrum & Kanban) with hands on experience.
  • Has their CSM or PSM. Kanban and scaling certifications a plus.
  • Knowledge and proficiency of Lean practices
  • Knowledge and proficiency in Lean Startup, Design Thinking
  • Knowledge and proficiency in coaching techniques (ICF)
  • Knowledge and proficiency in team performance science and decision making science

Experience:

  • Hands-on experience applying lean/Agile methodologies with teams and programs (include team kickstarts/ chartering as well as leading a “big room planning”)
  • 5-10 years of real-world experience as a Scrum Master
  • 5-10 years of hands-on experience in Project Management

Agile Experience:

  • You must have mastery in the Scrum and Kanban and have a thorough understanding of “why” we do things in Agile
  • Deep knowledge of Agile principles and practices and the ability to transfer that understanding at all levels of the organization.
  • Certified ScrumMaster and Product Owner or equivalent.
  • Certification and fluency in one of the following: SAFe, Scrum@Scale, LeSS, Nexus (Enterprise Agile Coaches)
  • Application of Agile principles in one or more of these development disciplines: design, development, testing, and management; can relate principles, practices into performing these disciplines in an Agile environment.

Presence:

  • Excellent presentation and training skills.
  • Consulting and facilitation skills in leading technical teams in the adoption and improvement of Agile methodologies.
  • Ability to connect theory with pragmatic examples from your experience (your personal ‘war stories’)
  • Senior Agile Leadership skills with an ability to lead by example and challenge command and control behaviors (Enterprise Agile Coaches)

The Vision

  • Provide expertise and knowledge on Agile practices & processes
  • Have expertise in program and project management practices as well as developing operational excellence

  • Expose teams to the latest innovative thinking and ideas from the Agile community to increase agility, leveraging lean, Scrum, Kanban, and other agile thinking.
  • Understand and coach how teams can work as a team-of-teams
  • Able to help teams create a Value Stream Map
  • Demonstrate fundamental understanding of business operations (planning, budgeting, people management, etc)
  • Help others understand Product Management lifecycles
  • Help others understand team of team principles through understanding of Program Management (metrics, intake, prioritization, allocation)

Agile Mentorship and Leadership

  • Support Agile collaborative groups, Communities of Practice, and Agile Working Groups.
  • Continuously develop the skills of potential and existing coaches impacting all levels of the organization.
  • Embrace servant leadership and display the behaviors that come with the key mindset shifts associated with Agile methods.
  • Help teams and management improve Agile process and metrics, evaluate and mentor existing Scrum teams, and deliver training classes for product owners, developers, and testers.
