Manufacturing Engineer

What you will do:
The manufacturing Engineer will develop and plan the necessary processes relative to all new and existing production lines. They will lead the development and execution of the following: assembly line layout, capacity alignment to sales commitments, capital equipment planning and implementation, standard operating procedures, integration of design engineering/production operations all while ensuring the safest environment, highest quality, productivity targets. The Manufacturing Engineer coordinates and directs projects, project staff and sets goals, budgets, and timelines for active projects.
How you will do it:
- Production support, station setups (BOMs, fab parts, consumables), subassembly design and layout, plant layouts, rough cycle times, takt time calculations, preliminary line balancing (ongoing balance)
- Be the go-to for tracking and reporting for inventory.
- Maintain product BOM and routing specifications for finished goods, subassemblies.
- Oversee the inputs of information to connect finished goods to the final bill of materials.
- Work with engineering to correct any errors found in the BOM or on drawing.
- Assist Application Engineering for special orders, and review BOM accuracy.
- Process ECRs for new part numbers to create fabrication and assembly routings.
- Assist Production Planners with change orders requiring new part numbers being added to a released order requiring fabrication and assembly routings.
- Assist Cost Accounting/Bidding as needed for margin analysis review.
- Experience in supply chain / inventory related to a manufacturing environment.
- Previous knowledge of MRP and basic supply chain principals.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office products including Excel (VLOOKUP, PIVOT, SUMIF, GRAPH), SharePoint, Power Point, Word, SQL, PowerBI or equivalent tools.
- Strong English communication skills, written and oral communication, including group facilitation, and presentation skills.
- Proven skills in analyzing, planning, judgment and decision making.

- Provide regular reports to production issues, such as: Bill of material changes, deviations, time studies.
- Review, transfer order, safety stock, planning policy combination.

- Identify opportunities for improving the specification process and implement best practices.
- Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to specification management.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of specification processes and make necessary adjustments.
- Manage and own ECR process between engineering and production, review and sign off on all ECRs Ensure adherence to the documented ECR process.
- Work with the QC department on the implementation of standard work, aiding QC in a support role to closeout CARs and implement long-term and sustainable fixes to prevent re-occurrence.
- Working with production and planning in gathering important project information; especially relating to time study projects/gathering information for successive scheduling tasks, as projects enter main production stream.
- Making Decisions and Solving Problems – Analysing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
What we look for:
- Engineering Degree: Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing or related field or equivalent experience required.
- 2+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience preferred, Product Engineering, Data Analytics or a related field is required.
- Experience with sheetmetal, fabrication, and welding technologies
- Knowledge of AS400 or Equivalent MRP Systems is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of engineering theories and principals.
- Able to communicate ideas and recommendations to non-engineer team members in a clear manner.
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with peers and immediate supervisor.
- Beginning to Intermediate problem identification and problem solution skills.
- Able to apply the right mathematical methods and formulas to problem solving.
- Able to create alternative solutions to problems.
- Proven time management and projects management skills.
- High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise necessary cost control measures.
- Other duties and projects as required.
