Francis Construction Group (FCG), a union general contracting MBE firm specializing in commercial construction, is supported by a motivated and talented management team, and union-trained tradesmen who help streamline project timelines by self-performing various scopes of work. FCG is seeking a skilled, diverse, hardworking, sharp, and very capable Project Engineer to support a high-level project in close collaboration with our Project Executive. In this project, FCG is the owner’s rep, responsible for providing oversight for all the general contractor’s activities throughout the duration of the project. This candidate must be able to wear multiple hats, as he/she will act as the Executive Assistant and Business Apprentice while simultaneously maintaining the Project Engineer duties.
Required Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in architecture or engineering.
- Experience: Demonstrated experience as a Project Engineer or Project Architect on commercial construction projects.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural drawings, producing and maintaining construction schedules, generating and tracking RFIs, collecting and releasing submittals for approvals, drafting and submitting change orders, and other project-related responsibilities.
- Communication: Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively summarize and relay key project updates to the Project Executive daily.
- Project Management Software: Experience with Procore for managing project documentation and Microsoft Project for creating construction schedules.
- Organizational Skills: Strong time management, note-taking, and organizational abilities to follow up on action items from the Project Executive. The ability to maintain the Project Executive's calendar, keeping meetings and calls in front of him.
Key Responsibilities:
The Project Engineer/Executive Assistant/Business Apprentice will monitor project-related emails and prioritize updates requiring the Project Executive’s attention. The PE will review all construction-related documents, including submittals, change orders, RFIs, construction schedules, etc. and relay pertinent details to the Project Executive. While the Project Executive serves as the project lead, the Project Engineer should bring experienced insights to support project progression as needed. This candidate will assist the Project Executive with administrative duties, some project-related, while others will be company-related. It will be a fast-paced position that will require in-person activities, with facetime check-ins when necessary. Everyday may be different so the candidate must be versatile, flexible, and able to switch gears on the fly.
