Senior Materials Developer - Footwear

What You Will Do: As a Senior Footwear Materials Developer, you will play a pivotal role in material development processes, focusing on the execution of aesthetic, performance, quality, cost, and sustainability strategies for footwear materials. You'll collaborate closely with vendors and internal teams to establish material needs, drive new material creation, and ensure excellence in product outcomes. Your technical expertise will ensure that new materials are tested, commercialized, and delivered on time to align with goals for both athletes and consumers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with vendors, product creation, and internal functions to identify material needs and execute new material strategies.
- Drive the development, testing, and commercialization of new materials within project timelines.
- Provide technical guidance and tools to enable effective material selection for footwear product teams.
- Act as the primary point of contact for vendors on material initiatives, addressing issues related to price, technical specifications, and performance.
- Partner with Material Planning, Sourcing, and Costing to ensure transparency and resolve any material-related concerns.
- Provide training and education to product creation teams and other functional groups on material strategies and best practices.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Materials, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in materials development, manufacturing, engineering, or a related field.
- Deep understanding of various material manufacturing processes, including fibers, yarns, textiles, leather, synthetic leather, components, or trims.
- Expertise in translating lab testing results for end-use applications.
- Strong skills in data analysis, interpretation, and presentation.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, with a proactive approach to solving problems and mitigating risks.
- Ability to manage multiple competing projects independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and familiarity with material management systems (preferred).
