Senior Desktop Engineer

Our client in Maryland Heights, MO is looking for a Sr Desktop Engineer to join their team on a contract to hire opportunity. The Sr Desktop Engineer will be instrumental in maintaining and optimizing the computer network systems of our Managed Network Services clients, including the cloud-based servers. The successful candidate will act as the highest technical asset in the Service Desk's escalation process, handling the most complex and critical problems. They will need a strong knowledge of Azure. This role demands exceptional problem-solving abilities, strong customer service skills, and a comprehensive understanding of network and cloud resources.
Job Duties:
- Maintain, support, and optimize all network hardware, software, and communication links, including cloud servers.
- Drive the resolution of end-user hardware and software issues, including server problems within designated SLAs.
- Handle escalations and complex problems efficiently and promptly with the least disruption to client operations.
- Help in the development of junior technicians as part of the team lead's support group.
- Oversee the installation and maintenance of end-user workstation hardware, software, cloud services, and peripheral devices.
- Collaborate with vendors and outsources to secure network products and services, particularly those relating to Azure.
- Conduct regular audits, monitor network performance, and report any issues identified to the relevant departments.
- Respond to inbound customer calls and respond to issues via a ticketing system efficiently.
- Be readily available for on-call rotation.
Skills:
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail, particularly when handling server issues and escalations.
- Robust knowledge and experience of Azure Cloud Services.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly in dealing with complex network problems and escalations.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.
- Advanced experience with Microsoft operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and TCP/IP.
- Familiarity with ConnectWise, IT Glue and RapidFire tools is preferred.
- In-depth understanding of network security principles and infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, routers and layer 2/3 protocols.
- Knowledge of Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam, and content filtering technologies.
- Ability to achieve Security Clearance as required by government clients.
- Willingness to travel to client sites as needed.
