Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Desktop Engineer to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in desktop management, deployment, and configuration, with a focus on using System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM). You will be responsible for designing, building, and deploying desktop solutions in a large-scale enterprise environment, ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of end-user systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain SCCM infrastructure to automate the deployment, updating, and monitoring of desktop environments.
  • Create, build, and deploy desktop images and applications using SCCM and other tools.
  • Perform manual desktop builds and configurations when necessary, ensuring all systems meet company standards and security requirements.
  • Develop and maintain desktop OS images, ensuring systems are patched and secure.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to desktop performance, hardware, software, and security.
  • Monitor desktop health and performance using SCCM, identifying and resolving potential issues proactively.
  • Manage and deploy software updates and patches using SCCM to ensure compliance with security policies.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to design and implement desktop deployment strategies, improving efficiency and reducing downtime.
  • Ensure desktop security, including antivirus, encryption, and compliance with company policies.
  • Provide escalated support for desktop issues, working closely with Helpdesk and other IT teams to resolve critical incidents.
  • Maintain and update technical documentation related to desktop deployments and configurations.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in desktop engineering, including hands-on work with SCCM for desktop and software deployment.
  • Strong understanding of Windows OS environments and experience in OS imaging and deployment
  • Experience with software packaging, scripting, and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, VBScript).
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve desktop hardware and software issues.
  • Familiarity with Group Policy, Active Directory, and other desktop management tools.
  • Experience managing large-scale desktop environments (500+ systems).

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based deployment and management solutions.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals, particularly related to desktop connectivity and remote management.
  • Industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert - MCSECompTIA A+
