POSITION SUMMARY

Chase Construction Group is seeking a Project Engineer to join its dynamic team of commercial construction professionals. The Project Engineer handles all aspects of the project engineering process for specific construction projects, including scope of work, from the pre-construction stage to successful completion.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans, organizes and manages the project engineering process for a variety of commercial construction projects.
  • Meets regularly with all parties involved in the construction project to track status from pre-construction to successful completion.
  • Maintain accurate files for project designs, drawings, specifications, estimates and other correspondence relevant to project documentation.
  • Ensures all document control and distribution systems, processes and procedures are clear, accurate and complete.
  • Effectively communicates with construction and contractor management teams.
  • Provides initial review of pay applications, change orders and other incoming construction documents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Analytical Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Ability to independently research, analyze, and identify viable options to complex situations. Ability to draw and present sound findings and decisions and make thoughtful recommendations considering overall risk and both short and long-term impact to project schedule and budget.
  • Communication: Ability to express your thoughts effectively in a professional manner, both in person and in writing.
  • Customer Service: Ability to effectively build relationships of trust, by providing a high level of personalized service to all trades and parties involved in each project. 
  • Interpersonal Relationships: Must be internally motivated, team-oriented, and passionate about construction. Must have the ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships both internally with other construction team members, and externally to include clients, vendors, subcontractors, and prospective clients.
  • Organization and Time-Management: Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, while keeping the project at or ahead of schedule and on or below budget. Ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to organize and complete project documentation. Ability to plan, organize, prioritize and complete work within deadlines while ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Systems and Software: Demonstrate ability to proficiently use management, scheduling, and Microsoft Office, Plangrid and Raken. Knowledge of CAD system, CAFM, estimating, cost control, scheduling, construction administration, quality control, and specific writing and place planning resources. Ability to read drawings and schematics.
  • Knowledge of project management, accounting, construction design, construction methods, building materials, sustainability, mechanical and electrical construction, cost estimation, building codes and standards, and contract administration.
  • Proficiency with OHSPD forms, applications, fees, permits, test and inspection forms.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand plans and all other documents related to all aspects of building construction.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in architecture, engineering or construction management.
  • Three or more years of related experience in construction, design or construction management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be exposed to conditions that include: weather, such as heat, humidity, and cold; fumes; chemicals or airborne particles; exposure to dust and asphalt; risk of injury from moving mechanical parts and

electrical shock; and all other conditions that may accompany an active construction site or workshop.

The Assistant Superintendent is regularly required to:

  • Walk, climb stairs, sit, and stand for long periods of time.
  • Speak and hear at normal levels.
  • See with close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and can adjust focus.
  • Reach in all directions with hands and arms.
  • Use arms, hands, and fingers to operate tools and other business machines.
  • Lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
