Group Controller Position Summary:

The Group Controller will be responsible for overseeing the company's financial operations across multiple sites and companies that fall under the corporate umbrella. This position requires a proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can effectively balance day-to-day accounting tasks and long-term financial planning.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least seven years of experience in a senior accounting or financial management role.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience managing multiple assets, defined as managing multiple companies and sites.
  • Accounting experience working with or for manufacturers in a Financial Leadership Role.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment is a must.
  • Spanish Bi-lingual is perfreed

Group Controller Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the full cycle of accounting operations, including managing accounts, processing transactions, and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, ensuring they are properly documented and compliant with internal policies.
  • Develop and maintain financial forecasts and budgets in collaboration with department leaders, providing insights to improve business performance.
  • Oversee financial statement preparation, ensuring reports are completed on time and reflect the company's financial position accurately.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, coordinating with various departments to ensure timely submission.
  • Perform reconciliations of key accounts, identifying discrepancies and implementing solutions to improve accuracy.
  • Conduct analysis of monthly expenses, identifying trends and areas for cost optimization.
  • Oversee the preparation and analysis of balance sheets and income statements to provide insights for leadership decisions.
  • Track and manage fixed assets, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with depreciation policies.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during financial audits, ensuring all documentation is provided and audit procedures are followed.
  • Prepare and file tax returns and other required government reports in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Act as the primary liaison with financial institutions, ensuring compliance with banking requirements and facilitating audits of company assets.
  • Communicate and collaborate with internal stakeholders, including finance teams and executive management, to provide financial insights and updates.
  • Manage the renewal of insurance policies, coordinating with brokers to ensure proper coverage is in place.

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Mentor and guide accounting staff, fostering professional development and ensuring the team meets key performance goals.
  • Build and maintain a strong finance team capable of supporting current operations and future business growth.
  • Oversee indirect reports such as Finance Officers, Accountants, and Accounts Payable teams, ensuring smooth daily operations.

Required Skills Qualifications:

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with the capability to handle both high-level strategy and detailed financial tasks.
  • Demonstrated expertise in tax compliance, financial reporting, and auditing.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel, including the ability to analyze large data sets.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a proven ability to deliver complex financial information to various audiences.
  • Ability to understand and respond to dynamic business challenges, ensuring the company remains compliant and financially stable.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, especially when managing multiple priorities.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $120,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
