Job Description:

Job Title: AV Engineer

Job Type: Contract

Job Location: San Francisco, CA or Los Angeles, CA or Bellevue, WA or Atlanta, GA or Chicago, IL or Dallas, TX

Work Schedule: Hybrid 3 days in office

Pay Rate: $40/hr to $50/hr on W2; $50/hr to $60/hr C2C

The client is looking for is an engineer/product owner of all AV equipment in USA. If there are events, they will be working with the local team to make sure the event goes smoothly by providing standards and best practices and guidance and overseeing things. They will be the person who decides the direction of AV the company will take.

This person will predominately do the planning phase but be involved with everything making sure it runs smoothly. Previously they should have been involved in the Plan part, but also done some of the Build part.

What's involved with planning:

Make the plan, gather requirements, figure out what business needs, figuring out what hardware and software solutions you need to get the job done. When deciding which software and hardware equipment to use, they will have to weigh the pros and cons and providing reasons to back up the decision. They will be responsible for all AV and own it. They need to write documentation and design standards.

Build stage:

For building out there will be a third party vendor to assist, so the candidate needs to oversee and direct the vendor about how to properly build it out. This step involves putting all the hardware/software together, configure, install all the pieces together. This is like running cables through walls, wiring, installing mics, projectors, configuring the hardware, software, etc. Previous product management experience with vendors is expected to have .

Run stage:

This is day to day operations of the AV equipment, such as the IT Support Engineers who does majority of this task. The candidate is expected to do the documentation and standards in place so that the support team can do their work efficiently.

Hardware experience required:

Ideal: Poly

Second best: Logitech, Neat

Software experience required:

Ideal: Teams or Zoom

Second best: Google Meet

Qualifications:

  • 3+ of AV Engineering experience in MS Teams and Poly required
  • 2+ VoIP/Telephone experience in RingCentral, Zoom Phone or 8x8 would be ideal.
  • Proven IT AV Support experience interfacing with end-users to fix technical issues, performing preventative maintenance, and improving related processes.
  • Proven first-response experience troubleshooting AV systems, providing end-user training, and providing technical support for corporate events.
  • Proven experience helping with large-scale roll-outs, deploying/installing new solutions, and/or improving operational workflows.
  • Strong knowledge of modern AV fundamentals, signal flow, network protocols, and IT administration.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, experience with data analysis, reports, and presentations.
  • 5+ years as an audio-visual technician/specialist for a corporate enterprise company or AV integration company to corporate clients.
  • Proven L2 troubleshooting of corporate AV systems towards diagnosis, remediation/escalation, and root-cause analysis.
  • Proven L2 system admin ability to navigate admin tools and configure/test changes for both hardware systems and related SaaS platforms.
  • Experience with opening new offices, managing AV integrators in design meetings and on scope deliverables, and performing system commissioning.
  • Experience with AV design, CAD drawings, deciphering schematics, performing design mark-ups, and illustrating ideas in a visual manner.
  • Experience with scaling new processes and creating efficiencies, can lead efforts to improve work streams and conduct operational training.
  • Showcased L3 ability to plan mitigation for deep rooted and/or systemic problems and drive new solutions/enhancements at scale.
  • Familiar knowledge with Apple OS and Windows OS as it applies to corporate AV systems, imaging/provisioning, capturing logs, and using the Microsoft Suite.
  • Familiar knowledge with AV hardware: Crestron or Poly. This includes their product line, navigating internal settings, installing firmware, and uploading code.
  • Familiar knowledge with software MS Teams, Google Suites, Poly Lens
