Frequentis USA provides Air Traffic Control, Conferencing Control, and Command and Control Video, Voice, & Data Switching and Gateway products for the Federal Aviation Administration, NASA, DoD, and Civil customers.

Job Duties Summary: The successful candidate leads the planning, design and implementation of a customer project involving analog, digital, and Internet Protocol (IP) telecommunications & networking technologies. Creates and guides requirements, systems engineering, and verification engineering. Ensures that implemented engineering solutions fulfill customer requirements. Leads and coordinates internal activities as well as internal to external customer communications and design decisions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Networks or similar discipline
  • Telecommunications Systems Engineering background including work in analog, digital and IP technologies
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience as a systems engineer in a mission critical environment
  • Experience with Network concepts and implementation
  • Proficiency in creating strategies to achieve compliance
  • Experience in leading/overseeing an engineering team and direct customer interfacing
  • Skillful writing with an ability to write reports and analyses
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas verbally and in writing
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, and technical skills
  • Familiarity with Air Traffic Control systems, regulations, advisories, specifications (e.g., RTCA DO-278A) a plus

Major Functional Areas and Description of Duties:

  • Plans, develops, and implements technical compliance of product and documents according to Government specifications, guidelines and standards.
  • Bridges the gap between stakeholders and the development team, interpreting business requirements into understandable development tasks to match a final product with the expected technical targets
  • Derives / allocates hardware / software requirements from high level system customer specifications
  • Leads design reviews and presentations of engineering solutions to customers
  • Identifies gaps in compliance and develops strategies and engineering tasking to fulfill requirements
  • Advises management on compliance-related matters and overall technical status
  • Interfaces with other business operations (i.e., manufacturing, logistics, test, etc.) to ensure system engineering compliance
  • Conceives test methodologies to verify compliance of designed system solutions
  • Reviews and/or creates technical documentation

Special Notations or Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and susceptible to obtain a security clearance to enter Government sites
  • Up to 20% travel to customer sites
  • Travel to customer sites may be required for meetings, product reviews, training and/or system deployments
  • Must also be able to travel Internationally on occasion to receive equipment or technology training at affiliate companies in Europe
