As a Project Architect, you will collaborate with their award-winning thought leaders on projects that require thoughtful planning, research, sustainability, and architectural innovation.

This role requires exceptional communication, presentation, time management, and interpersonal skills as you collaborate closely with a Senior Project Architect, Senior Designer, and Project Manager to craft innovative and intricate design concepts tailored to meet client needs and deadlines. Depending on project specifications, you must exhibit leadership in developing technical documentation. Additionally, you will engage in frequent client interactions, contributing to our team's unwavering commitment to design excellence and quality across diverse projects.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Gain comprehensive insight into the project's design philosophy and contribute significantly to developing a design and building performance strategy, effectively communicating these strategies to assigned team members when necessary.
  • Offer technical design expertise and support in shaping the entire design concept.
  • Assume responsibility for the technical design aspects, detailed design development, project coordination, and quality assurance throughout all project phases, collaborating closely with the Senior Designer.
  • Lead and participate in component team meetings, fostering collaboration through a Target Value Design (TVD) process involving key stakeholders such as Construction Managers, subcontractors, and internal team members.
  • Proactively seek creative and innovative solutions for assigned tasks, backed by thorough research and documentation.
  • Actively coordinate and collaborate with consultants and resources to ensure seamless integration of project deliverables, aligned with the project's design concept and performance objectives.
  • Contribute to the preparation of design documents and lead the meticulous development of construction documents across all project stages, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and coordination.
  • Drive the production of schematic, design development, and construction documents drawings and specifications, adhering to project scope, schedule, cost, and design intent.
  • Stay abreast of evolving building technology and systems.
  • Review shop drawings, material samples, and construction documents for compliance with design specifications.
  • Perform construction administration tasks, including RFI's, RFP's, change orders, etc.
  • Prepare reports, specifications, and review completed reports, plans, cost estimates, and calculations.
  • Conduct relevant agency review analysis (accessibility, zoning, life-safety, etc.).
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to establish architectural budget, task schedule, and other project work plan components.
  • Facilitate meetings, ensuring meeting objectives are met and providing comprehensive meeting notes documentation.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, consultants, and contractors throughout all project phases, participating in marketing, client, and owner presentations as required.
  • Serve as a role model for teamwork, fostering cooperation while providing direction, organization, and mentorship to junior staff.


Qualifications

Preferred candidates will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture; Master's degree preferred.
  • Architectural registration required.
  • LEED accreditation preferred.
  • 7 to 12 years of experience, including work on small- to large-scale projects. (10+ Years of Experience preferred for San Francisco location)
  • Strong graphics skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and other industry-accepted software, along with expertise in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • Understanding of the healthcare industry, particularly in clinical innovation, operational improvement, planning, and strategic positioning for complex hospital systems.
  • Experience with Lean and Evidence-based design is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Revit required; Experience with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape, and other graphic tools desired, along with expertise in Project Manager software and Microsoft Office products.
