The Daily Beast is looking to hire a
Finance Director
to join our team. This person will report directly to the SVP of Finance and will be responsible for supporting all departments under The Daily Beast umbrella. This role offers great growth potential to move into a more senior role within the finance team.
This person will oversee general accounting operations and assist with driving the Company's financial strategy and planning forward. The ideal candidate has experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and managing a small team.
Key ResponsibilitiesOversee month-end, quarter end and year end closing, and reconciliation processesPrepare month-end journal entries which include but not limited to the areas of transactions, accounts receivable, prepaid expenses, and accrued expensesSupport the Finance team with all accounting functions and various financial projects as requiredAssist in performing Revenue/Expense analysis for monthly closesManage Freelancer AP Cycle - receive all incoming invoices, match invoices to agreements/contracts, route for approvals, enter AP ERP systems (Concur & Oracle), prepare weekly accounts payable listing, identify vendors for payment, ensure timely and accurate payment of vendor invoices and freelancer invoicesContribute to identifying and implementing various policies, procedures, and internal controlsPrepare quarterly sales commission calculationsPrepare monthly P&L reporting to IACSupport operations with any ad-hoc analysis requests and special projectsDesired Skills & Experience
S/B.A in accounting, finance, business or other related fieldCPA required5 to 7 years of strong G/L and month end close experienceOnline media and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX 404) experience a plusIndependent, self-motivated team playerExcellent written, verbal, communication, detailed orientated and interpersonal skillsProven ability to build relationships and communicate with peers, executive management and other critical stakeholdersAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneouslyThe candidate must be proficient with Oracle OR other mid-tier ERP systems, Concur, and MS Office (Strong Excel including Pivot Table, Vlookup, Macro's, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)Demonstrated excellence in financial analysis with advanced Excel skillsPrior experience in digital media and/or publishing industry is a plusWhy Join Us?Be part of a respected and influential news organization.Engage with a dedicated audience passionate about political news.Enjoy a collaborative and fast-paced work environment.Opportunities for career growth and development.Benefits

Compensation
The starting base salary range for this position is $140,000 to $160,000 annually.
The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, performance and other factors. The range listed is just one component of the Daily Beast's total compensation package. The Daily Beast provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, 401K employer matching program, paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO).
