MedSurg 5 South (Hem/Onc) CC10327 position available in Jackson, MS.University Hospital (MS) is seeking nursing staff for this role.Job Requirements
BLS certification is a must.Oncology certification is not required but experience is preferred.Must be comfortable administering CHEMO, with an opportunity to learn from the manager.Level 1 trauma experience is needed.Experience in a larger facility with high acuity patients is essential.Must be comfortable with lines, chest tubes, and managing hem/onc patients.Schedule Information
This is a 13-week contract.Shifts are 12 hours long, either from 7a-7p or 7p-7a.Managers will try to accommodate block scheduling when possible.Weekend requirement is every other or 2 weekends per month.Holiday rotations will be integrated with regular staff schedules.There is no call or standby requirement.Unit Specific Information
The Nurse to Patient ratios is typically 1:5 or up to 1:6.Common diagnoses include hem/onc and chemo patients.Experience with heparin and amio drips is preferred.Every unit has tele capability and central monitoring stations are available.Charge nurses may take a full patient load if necessary.All MedSurg units require the RNs to float within their skill set, with higher acuity patients assigned to core staff.Educator and manager available for each unit, smaller units share these roles.Nurse aids are present on all units.Additional Details
