With the support of more than 30,000 team members, we promote a forward-thinking philosophy thats built on a foundation of trust, dignity, respect, responsibility and clinical excellence.**Position Summary:** The VDI Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments. This role requires a deep understanding of virtualization technologies, server infrastructure, storage, networking, and cloud computing. The VDI Architect works closely with IT leadership, engineering teams, and stakeholders to ensure that the virtual desktop environments meet the organization's technical and business requirements.Candidates **MUST** reside in the state of Florida or be willing to relocate. This is a fully remote position; however, occasional on-site, after-hours/weekend work may be required. This role participates in a rotating on-call schedule.**Key Responsibilities:**+ Design and implement VDI architectures, including solutions like VMware Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, or Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop.+ Lead the end-to-end deployment, configuration, and optimization of VDI environments to support various use cases (e.g.,Clinical, remote work, BYOD, secure access).+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network, security, and server teams, to ensure seamless integration of VDI solutions with enterprise infrastructure.+ Develop and maintain system documentation, including design documents, operational guides, and runbooks.+ Oversee capacity planning, performance monitoring, and optimization of VDI environments to ensure high availability and scalability.+ Provide technical leadership in troubleshooting and resolving complex issues related to VDI infrastructure.+ Establish security policies and protocols to protect virtual desktops from unauthorized access, data breaches, and other security risks.+ Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and best practices to continuously improve VDI performance and user experience.+ Train and mentor junior IT staff on VDI architecture, best practices, and operational procedures.+ Manage vendor relationships for VDI-related software and hardware, ensuring timely updates, patches, and support.**Required Skills and Qualifications:**+ **Education** : **Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).**+ **Experience** :+ 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure with a focus on virtualization and desktop technologies.+ Extensive experience with VDI solutions such as VMware Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, or Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop.+ Hands-on experience with hypervisors (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, etc.).+ Experience with Windows server environments and Active Directory.+ Understanding of networking concepts such as DNS, DHCP, VLANs, load balancing, and firewall configurations in relation to VDI.+ Experience with storage solutions (SAN, NAS) related to VDI environments.+ Knowledge of cloud-based VDI solutions and hybrid cloud infrastructure is a plus.**Technical Skills:**+ Expertise in designing and implementing large-scale VDI environments.+ Proficiency in VMware Horizon, Citrix, Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop, or other major VDI platforms.+ Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.+ Strong skills in PowerShell scripting or similar automation tools.+ Experience with image management, profile management, and application layering (App Volumes, FSLogix, etc.).+ Familiarity and preferred experience in IGEL management.+ Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions for virtual desktop environments.**Soft Skills:**+ Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.+ Excellent communication and documentation skills.+ Ability to collaborate effectively across various teams and departments.+ Leadership and project management skills.+ Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.BayCare offers a competitive total reward package including benefits, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, 401k match and additional yearly contribution, yearly performance appraisals with merit increases, yearly team award bonus, community discounts and the chance to be part of an amazing team and a great place to work!**Location:** **Clearwater, FL****Status:** **Full Time, Exempt: Yes****Shift Hours:** **80****Weekend Work:** **Occasional****On Call:** **Yes****How often will this team member be working remotely?** AlwaysEqual Opportunity Employer Veterans/Disabled**Position** VDI Architect**Location** Clearwater:BayCare Sys Office East | Business and Administrative | Full Time**Req ID** null
