Job Description:The Occupational Therapist will demonstrate evidence-based decision-making ability to effectively screen and assess students and implement educationally relevant services for assigned caseload, demonstrating Best Practice Skills in school based Occupational TherapyAssessments: Completes screening or "Request for Therapy Assistance " as asked by the educational teamSelects, administers and interprets assessments to determine functional skill level of studentsGenerates a written report for initial, reevaluation and annual progress reports in a timely manner and presents reports at IEP meetingsEstablishes students' goals and benchmarks and updates benchmarks according to Special Education guidelinesService Delivery: Implements educationally relevant services for assigned caseloadActively participates in team meetings, IEP meetings and student community appointments as indicatedEnsures equipment is properly fitted to students and in good working orderCompletes safety checks per departmental guidelinesOrganizes, shares and utilizes work area cooperativelyProgram Administration and Management: Prepares and efficiently manages a weekly scheduleUpdates student caseload on department database monthlyMaintains complete working student files per departmental guidelinesMaintains a record keeping system for student attendance and progressEvaluates the need for and requests equipment and materials necessary for safe service deliveryUpdates inventory of equipment and supplies used in programming on department data baseCompletes My Service Tracker and Time Study as requiredConsultation: Provides in-service training and information for teachers, staff members and parents, according to program needsProvides written consultation reports and classroom programs for individual students, as neededPromotes a positive atmosphere for constructive interchange and problem resolutionProfessional Responsibilities and Development: Represents Therapy Services in a professional and knowledgeable mannerCompletes annual Therapist professional development plan and reviews with Department SupervisorAttends and is proactively involved in departmental staff meetingsParticipates in at least 2 departmental and/or district committeesEstablishes and maintains effective working relationshipsPursues ongoing professional developmentWatches for student behaviour that may indicate a problem (e.g., profanity, teasing, bullying, distress, etc.).Intervenes and/or reports concerns to an administrationOccasional stooping, bending, and reachingMust work in variety of environments- classrooms, hallways, lunchroom, playgrounds, etcFrequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
