Vernon, Indiana!Why Apply?You will support BWXT’s machinists in developing CNC programs on large-scale, multi-axis CNC mills and lathes to machine one-of-a-kind precision components for naval nuclear reactors used in submarines and aircraft carriers. This is a low-volume, highly engineered manufacturing environment where you’d be involved in the full life cycle of the build. You’ll work in a safe, clean, and specialized manufacturing environment alongside a great team of skilled colleagues.You will work a four-day work week while receiving market-leading pay, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, and service-based retirement contributions with additional 401k match. Overtime is available if desired and may be required to support company needs.

Relocation assistance is available for qualified applicants.What You’ll DoIn this role, you will create and modify existing CNC programs in Siemens NX that drive various types of machining operations such as milling, drilling, tapping/thread milling, boring, and turning to meet print specifications. Additionally, you would:Work closely with other CNC programmers, Tooling Application Engineers, Supervisors, Manufacturing Engineers, and machinists to develop/modify processes to optimize machining productivity and performance.Participate in machining kick-off and pre-work meetings to ensure all requirements can be achieved with a safe, efficient process while maintaining the highest possible quality.Work closely with machinists during first-of-a-kind (FOAK) evolutions.Implement changes to programs based on machinist feedback.Foster an environment of innovation and continuous improvement as it relates to new cutting technology, programming best practices, and technological advances in CNC programming.Partner with other BWXT sites to share ideas and align standard work.Develop working relationships with machinists executing work.Peer review programs prior to release to the floor.Troubleshoot challenges at the machine.Routinely read and comprehend written instructions, technical procedures, prints, sketches, and bills of material.Work in accordance with all applicable company procedures, policies, and rules.Promote unity and positive morale in a respectful work environment.Other responsibilities as assigned.What We Need from YouAssociate’s of Applied Science degree in a technical field and (4) years of experience, or high school equivalency and (8) years of relevant experience.Experience programming with different machining attachments (i.e. right angle, universal, offset milling) is preferred.Expertise reading blueprints and knowledge of geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T).Experience programming with Siemens NX is highly desirable.Working knowledge and application of standard G and M codes.Ability to maintain detailed process documentation and other production records.Exhibit strong problem-solving skills relative to machining and CNC processes.Must be able to manage multiple tasks or projects.U.S. citizenship with no dual citizenship is required for this position.Flexibility to report at other scheduled times as business need dictates.Pay: $63,000 - $99,000The base salary range for this position in Indiana (US-IN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $63,000 and $99,000 per year.As a federal government contractor, BWX Technologies, Inc. complies with all federal, state, and local laws and customer requirements regarding health and safety protocols.
