Job DescriptionThe City of East Point, GA is recruiting for an Information Technology Director. This is highly responsible technical and administrative work that is responsible for evaluating, designing, and maintaining the complex computer and networking systems in the city. Work is performed under the general supervision of the City Manager.
The IT Director will plan, implement, and manage the Information Technology (IT) and Geographic Information System (GIS) operations and activities of the City of East Point.
The position will provide leadership and administrative oversight to the City department and staff members responsible for the development, maintenance and operation of IT and GIS services. Services include technology planning, business applications support, GIS/911/Police technology oversight, network services and management, cyber security assessments, desktop/mobile systems sustainment, telephone systems upkeep, and web/internet services coordination.
Work involves significant engagement with the City Manager's office and other departments. Serving as a member of the City's leadership team, collaboration and communication are key. This is to ensure the incorporation of the City's mission and vision in operational activities.
In addition to managing day-to-day financial operations, the IT Director plays a crucial advisory role to the City Manager, Mayor, and City Council, providing expert guidance on technology policy, future trends for the use of technology in local government, and assessment of the vulnerabilities of the City's network. This role involves presenting data and analysis, making recommendations for technology decision-making, and developing strategies to optimize the use of city technological resources.
Founded in 1887, the City of East Point boasts a rich history and a vibrant, ethnically diverse community. Named for its location as the eastern terminus of the Atlanta & West Point Railroad, East Point began as a small railroad settlement with just 16 families in 1870. This position will be counted on to lead their department independently and to maintain and improve the city's infrastructure to meet the communities' high expectations. The position requires the successful candidate to meet the following qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.Master's degree preferred.Operation and administration of SQL server.Five (5) to seven (7) years of progressively responsible related experience, with two (2) years in a supervisory position.Local government experience preferred.Equivalent combination of education and experience.
The hiring range for this position is $73,408 to $128,750
