Job DescriptionThe City of College Park is recruiting for a Finance Director. The Finance Director is responsible for to overall financial operations of the City. The position reports to the City Manager and is a critical member of the City's executive leadership team.
A well-established community with an individuality all its own, College Park is located near the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, on Interstates I-85 and I-285. Originating from a land grant awarded in 1846, and chartered in 1895, the City has the fourth largest urban historic district in Georgia, with 867structures on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Finance Director for the City of College Park plays a vital role in overseeing the city's financial strategy, managing an operating budget of $43,923,265 for 2025 and an overall budget of $170,883,362 that encompasses all funds.
These funds include the Municipal Option Sales Tax (MOST), Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST), various grants, Hotel/Motel Tax, Tax Allocation Districts, as well as the Water, Sewer, Electric, Stormwater, and Sanitation funds.
The Finance Director is the driving force behind developing and implementing operating and capital budgets, ensuring that financial planning aligns with the city's strategic goals and community priorities. This position involves close collaboration with all city departments to guarantee that resource allocations effectively support the city's initiatives, infrastructure needs, and long-term sustainability.
As the head of the Finance Department, the Finance Director leads a team dedicated to maintaining the city's fiscal integrity. This team is responsible for monitoring the city's financial health, preparing comprehensive financial reports, managing revenue and expenditure forecasts, and maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
The ideal candidate for this position is a dynamic and forward-thinking leader with a strong background in municipal finance, exceptional analytical skills, and a commitment to transparency and ethical governance. This role requires a strategic mindset, a collaborative approach, and the ability to drive financial innovation to support College Park's continued growth and prosperity.
The position requires the successful candidate to meet the following qualifications:• Bachelor's degree required in Finance• Business Administration or closely related field• CPA certification preferred• Ten (10) to twelve (12) years of progressively responsible management experience in public/local government financial management• Equivalent combination of education and experience
The hiring range for this position is $146,593 - $186,907
