Staff Accountant

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for reporting to the Controller by providing administrative and financial support services. The position works closely with other accounting personnel, internal departments, and external parties.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries.
Summarizes financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheet, profit and loss, and other statements.
Produces payroll by initiating computer processing, printing checks, verifying finished product.
Completes external audit by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information for auditors.
Avoid legal challenges by complying with legal requirements.
Secures financial information by completing database backups.
Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required. An associate’s degree in accounting may be considered with the right experience.
5 to 7 years’ professional experience in accounting and finance.
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
OSIP and/or CCIP knowledge preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and Outlook), QuickBooks.
Strong analytical problem-solving aptitude with creative solutions, ability to organize work with large amounts of information efficiently, manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously with strong attention to detail.
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both in writing and verbally, with management and vendors.
Able to work as a team player.
Open to development of skills and knowledge.
Must be able to come to the office.
