Sr. Specialist, Database EngineerJob Code: 17063Job Location: Colorado Springs, COJob Description:As the premier provider of Space Domain Awareness (SDA) mission solutions for the United States Space Force, L3Harris is seeking a lead software engineer to assist the team in transitioning a Legacy system to a Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) compliant cloud-based platform. The ideal candidate should have experience with the full software development lifecycle, Embedded software development, orbital mechanics, optical surveillance system technologies including telescope control software, facility and dome control, and optical image processing software. This position is onsite in Colorado Springs, CO.Essential Functions:Design, implement, and maintain database systems for high availability and performance.Optimize database structures for efficiency and effectiveness in supporting complex queries and data retrieval.Ensure database security measures are in place and up-to-date in compliance with ITAR and EAR regulations.Collaborate with software development teams to integrate databases with existing systems.Conduct regular tests and troubleshooting to ensure databases are error-free and operate reliably.Document the database setup, architecture, and procedures for maintenance and troubleshooting.Responsible for providing guidance, coaching and training to other employees.Manages complex projects or processes with general oversight.Communicates within and outside of own function or business area and has responsibility for communicating with parties external to the organization.Uses best practices in database security.Works collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with different levels of management and staff.Up to 10% travel may be required.Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.Active U.S. DoD Secret security clearance.3 years of experience as a Database Engineer or similar role.4+ years with SQL and experience with relational database design and maintenance.Linux and other database (Postgres and/or Oracle).Experience with non-relational databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, or others.Database programming and query optimization techniques.Preferred Additional Skills:Active U.S. DoD Top Secret security clearance.Experience with cloud-based database services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).Familiarity with database administration in a Linux/Unix environment.Experience with Scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Bash.Excellent people skills, with experience leading and collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment.Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation).In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $93,500 - $173,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
