Job Summary: Seeking an experienced Scrum Master to join our Houston-based Tier 0 security team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading team ceremonies, facilitating the throughput of work, and ensuring the team adheres to agile principles. This role requires a strong understanding of agile methodologies, particularly the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), and the ability to manage both planned and unplanned work effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

Facilitate Agile Ceremonies: Lead daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and Program Increment (PI) planning sessions every 12 weeks.

Backlog Management: Assist the Product Owner in prioritizing and managing the backlog, ensuring that work is appropriately filtered and routed.

Work Management: Oversee the flow of work through Azure DevOps (ADO) boards, ensuring tasks are prioritized and completed efficiently.

Global Coordination: Coordinate with global teams, including those in Kuala Lumpur and India, and manage virtual meetings as needed.

Reporting: Report metrics such as velocity and story points to the Release Train Engineer, ensuring transparency and accountability.

Support Team Dynamics: Help the team balance planned and unplanned work, providing guidance on agile practices and principles.

Technical Understanding: While not mandatory, a background in Windows engineering or infrastructure is a plus, aiding in the understanding of the team’s technical environment.

Required Qualifications:

Experience: Intermediate-level experience as a Scrum Master, with a strong grasp of agile methodologies and practices.

Tools: Proficiency with Azure DevOps (ADO) or similar tools for managing work items and tracking progress.

Communication: Excellent facilitation and communication skills, capable of interacting effectively with team members, product owners, and stakeholders.

Agile Knowledge: Strong understanding of agile principles, particularly the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification: SAFe certification or similar agile certifications.

Technical Background : Experience in Windows engineering or infrastructure.

Industry Experience: Familiarity with oil and gas industry practices is a plus but not required.

Work Environment:

On-site Requirement: This is a full-time, on-site position based in Spring, TX.

Global Operations: The role may require occasional evening meetings to coordinate with global teams, typically between 7:00 and 9:00 PM Houston time.

About the Team: Our team has been practicing agile since 2018 and is mature in its agile journey. We support both the API service and the hardware infrastructure it runs on, making this a unique and challenging role. The team operates in a high-security environment, and the Scrum Master will play a crucial role in maintaining the balance between planned and unplanned work.

ScrumMaster for a Houston-based team supporting windows active directory, PKI certificate servers, and other elements of the ExxonMobil tier 0 security environment.

o Daily Responsibilities:

 Encourages team to make and meet execution commitments and removes impediments to the team

 Encourages the team to establish and adhere to quality standards

 Facilitates team ceremonies – Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review and Retrospectives to guide work execution & Continuous Improvement

 Implements effective backlog management; Keep the status of all work up to date in the backlog through backlog grooming in order to generate standard metrics to improve team performance

 Collaborates with the Staff Development Manager, Product Owner, System Architect and Delivery Team to establish and update Working Agreements on execution plans, priorities, capacity, definition of ready, definition of done

 Collaborates with Release Train Engineer in Scrum of Scrum and helps to facilitate PI planning

 Facilitates skills assessment activities (i.e. “Skills Bingo”) to ensure team is prepared for work commitments

 Ensures Azure DevOps (ADO) Core Fields are completed

 Incident Management – keep track of aging tickets and help team resolve incidents timely

 Coordinates team building activities

o Required Experience:

 3-5 years’ experience leading Agile teams

 Proficiency with Microsoft Azure DevOps Boards

o Preferred Experience:

 SAFe Scrum Master or Advanced Scrum Master Certification

 Infrastructure support or Windows engineering background
