Custodian (Brooklyn Brownsville Corps)

Responsibilities
General maintenance of all Salvation Army property including parking lot areas; General building upkeep; will be following a check list for duties; ability to use cleaning tools and equipment; Ability to maintain facility in a clean environment
Cooperates in total staff effort designed to improve the center’s service
Receiving of all deliveries and ensuring that they are securely packed and covered in Storage room.
After packing away delivered items in pantry and storage area, make sure that all spills are swept and mopped.
Perform minor repairs such as ceiling, tile changing, stopping of leaks wherever required, etc.
Clean and maintain in front of building by keeping area clean at all times.
Donation pick up if necessary, driving the corps 12 passenger van
Order supplies given in written form to the Corps Officer for approval, who then passes it on for the Secretary to complete; Ability to keep simple inventory of supplies on hand and as needed.
Following a checklist of expected work and providing it to Corps Officers and building Administrator for approval; Ability to read and write in order to follow written work schedules.
Must have basic computer skills – email, ability to do online training
Must be able to take direction, to work with minimal supervision, and to function cooperatively as part of a team
Maintain cooperative relationships with other staff, children, parents and visitors to the center.
Any and all other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High School Diploma
1-2 years work experience in various handyman/odd jobs. (Related experience in general custodial duties, such as cleaning, repairing and painting.)
Valid State Driver’s License
