Summary

The Senior Manager will serve as an influential business leader tasked with managing the commodity ingredient category to deliver a sustainable competitive advantage to SLFB, bringing today’s dynamic markets to life by aggregating external data sources to help the Leadership Team make the best decisions, and collaborating with cross-functional partners to develop and execute long-term savings opportunities. The selected candidate will be a key member of the ingredients sourcing team and will oversee numerous categories and over $100MM in spending.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Combine external industry knowledge with a deep understanding of business needs to develop sourcing strategies that deliver a sustainable competitive advantage.

Develop a detailed sourcing plan for each area of responsibility, incorporating a documented evaluation of the category/industry and what steps SLFB needs to pursue to maximize competitive advantage.

Develop and maintain a robust list of savings opportunities and work with internal partners to evaluate and implement the ideas.

Work with 3rd party commodity experts to develop risk management strategies for each commodity category. Lead strategy discussions with SLFB leadership to gain alignment and then execute the agreed-upon plan.

Support procurement team with insights across commodity categories, including areas such as packaging and indirect.

Partner with R&D and Supply Chain leaders to develop a robust program to lower cost & increase quality.

Identify external innovations/products that drive sales.

Analyze supply/demand fundamentals and develop business continuity strategies to ensure uninterrupted supply, including qualifying new suppliers and ensuring proper levels of inventories within the supply chain.

Develop and track KPIs to drive continuous improvement from the supply base.

Implement procurement tools/processes to continue to progress Procurement to a best-in-class function and drive urgency/accountability.

Professionally negotiate supply agreements and monitor compliance with procurement processes and policies.

Support supplier audits and ensure Supplier Quality Expectations compliance to minimize risk and manage long-term contracts.

Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree in business or related field required.

Evidence of continued professional development in procurement tools and technologies.

10+ years of procurement experience, preferably in the Consumer Food & Beverage industry.

Extensive procurement experience with developing and executing sourcing strategies, including running RFXs, negotiations, and project management.

Past experience dealing with board traded commodities and development of risk management strategies.

Meaningful experience in driving procurement strategies that have led to enhanced supplier relationships and change management initiatives.

Experience in leading programs focused on Procurement Best Practices.

Knowledge of and practical experience with P2P and contracting concepts and leading practices.

Advanced project management skills.

Advanced negotiation skills, including should cost concepts.

Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Smart Sheet, Excel, and PowerPoint.
