As the new hire, you will be working with a team of experienced professional engineer-divers that provides consulting services to clients in Hawaii and Southern California (SoCal).
Occasional travel to other areas throughout the U.S. and abroad will also be required, but most evenings you will be home. The principal function of this position is to be part of a team that evaluates marine structures and ports through above and underwater engineering inspections, follow-on report preparation and development of structural repair designs. You will also perform high-level analysis and design. You will utilize modern workflows that include field tablets, UAS (drones), nondestructive testing and evaluation, marine mapping and imaging, analysis and modeling tools. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.Participates in site investigations of waterfront infrastructure such as marine structures, marinas, ports, container terminals, water control structures, etc.Assists the team so that scopes of work are fulfilled and that contracted deliverables are submitted on schedule and within budget.Works collaboratively with all members of the inspection teams, design teams, and other engineering disciplines.Analyzes aged or damaged components of marine structures to assess load capacity.Performs inspections utilizing commercial diving methods and techniques while adhering to field operation standards and safety procedures.Actively assists in writing technical reports and manuals as needed.Understands and maintains proficiency with State, Federal, and local agency design standards and criteria, practices, and policies.Prepares plans, specifications, cost estimates and supporting documentation.Assists in proposals and cost estimates.Performs other duties as required.Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering.Master's degree in Structural Engineering preferred but not required.Professional Engineer licensure required. License in Hawaii is desired or having the ability to obtain via reciprocity within 6 months of hire.Certified Diver - ADCI, HSE, DCBC, IMCA or ADAS.5 to 10 years of related experience.Dive Supervisor certification preferred.NHI/NBIS bridge inspection qualifications a plus.Proven experience in performing above/below water engineering inspections.Possess a valid driver's license in good standing.Ability and willingness to travel as required. Most work is local/regional; however, travel can be up to 1 to 2 weeks in duration if needed.Boater Safety Card preferred.Possess DBIDS card or eligibility to successfully pass background check to secure Department of Defense DBIDS card and other badges required by clients.Possession of or ability to obtain within a couple months of hire a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).Current First Aid, CPR, AED, and Oxygen Administration certification preferred.Selected candidate must consent to and pass a post-off/pre-employment drug screening.All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171.Moffatt & Nichol uses E-Verify and employment is contingent upon the legal ability to obtain employment in the U.S. and to present the required documentation at hire.Base Salary Range:
