Job Responsibilities
With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.
This position is located at the Aiken-Barnwell Mental Health Center, 1135 Gregg Highway, Aiken, SC 29803. This position will provide services to ACT Team patients in their homes and community and patients served at the Center.
Job Purpose
Within scope of practice as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, provides services to Center patients and serves as a part of an Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team who provides evidenced based services in an intensive non-residential treatment and rehabilitative services in accordance with the fidelity model. This is a single fixed point of responsibility for treatment, rehabilitation, and support needs for patients with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) who require higher levels of community care and have not been well supported in lower level of care options.Job Function
Provide psychiatric treatment services to Center patients and ACT Team patients. Completes all documentation according to SCDMH/Federal/State/Center standards. Educates non-medical team members on psychiatric and non-psychiatric medications, their side effects, and health related conditions; provides diagnostic andmedication education to beneficiaries, with medication decisions based on shared decision making. Collaborates with team leader for monitoring beneficiary treatment and clinical supervision to the team and collaborates with RN to develop and implementmedication administration and oversee medical care of beneficiaries. Participates in daily team meetings, treatment team meetings and medical staff meetings. Adheres to Center, DMH and State Corporate Compliance policies, procedures and regulations and training/licensure requirements. Completes other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
State Minimum Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with clinical experience. Positions in this classification require licensure as a Registered Nurse and certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the South Carolina Board of Nursing.
Agency (Facility) Minimum Requirements:
A Master's degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing. Licensed as a registered nurse with official recognition as a Nurse Practitioner by the SC Board of Nursing, practicing in the extended role with prescriptive authority in the state of South Carolina.
5 Years of Related Nursing Experience treating individuals with SPMI.

Agency (Facility) Preferences:
Master's degree in Nursing and certification from the SC Board of Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner.
Must have advanced experience/knowledge of psychiatric illnesses/symptoms and psychotropic medications. Ability to function in multi-disciplinary team. Advanced knowledge and application of nursing practice and supervision of such. Supervision provided by Medical Director. A high degree of independence and self-motivation will be expected. Employee's activities are governed by SCDMH and Center policies and procedures. This position is essential and may be called back for disasters/emergencies. Position may require travel between clinics. Position will serve ACT Teams 20% of the work week and my see patients in their homes. Ability to drive state car. Ability to lift 5 lbs. Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
