Reports To: Supervising Thoracic Surgeon

Inpatient/Outpatient: 10% Inpatient, 90% Outpatient

Case Load: 100% Adult

Position Overview:

Henry Ford Health Jackson is seeking a dedicated and skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) specializing in Thoracic Surgery to join our dynamic team on a contingent basis. This role involves providing comprehensive care to patients undergoing thoracic surgical procedures, both preoperatively and postoperatively. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background in thoracic or general surgery, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care. PA or NP certification, with thoracic surgery-specific experience or relative specialty experience, is preferred. 1-2 years of applicable training as an APP.

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Specialty/Invasive NP/PA will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. The Specialty/Invasive NP/PA will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, consultation, and care coordination as a first line provider to patients and their families. Provides inpatient and/or outpatient medical care. Works in collaboration with attending physicians, advanced practice providers, consultants, house officers, nurses, and other members of the medical care team to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently. Specific procedures as per credentialing as indicated by training and experience. Works in one of the following departments: Cardiovascular Medicine, Emergency Medicine, ICU, Interventional Radiology, Nephrology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Surgery, Urgent Care, Urology. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Master's degree in nursing OR Bachelor's Degree or Completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Current certification as a Certified Nurse Practitioner. Current State license as a Registered Nurse. Current BLS. Current ACLS/ATLS/PALS provider status as required by department. OR Requires Michigan state licensure and continued certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Current ACLS/BLS as required. Current ATLS/PALS provider status as required.

Qualifications:

* NP - Completion of a Nurse Practitioner training program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)* PA - Completion of a Physician Assistant training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)* NP - Certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan* PA - Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

Licensure and Certification

* Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Michigan, or in process of applying (must have proof of application)* National certification as an NP or PA (e.g., ANCC, AANP, NCCPA)* Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.* DEA/CSL, required through credentialing.

Experience

* Thoracic surgery-specific experience or relative specialty experience, preferred. 1-2 years applicable experience as an APP.* EPIC Experience, preferred.
