Job Description:Position Details:Average annual salary of $60,000.During the initial 8-week training, earn $190 per day. Position Purpose:The role of a Food and Food Service Delivery Driver is crucial for maintaining the nation's food supply chain. Our drivers ensure that customer products arrive on time and in excellent condition, while also serving as the face of our company and fostering strong customer relationships.
The Driver Trainee is an entry-level position that focuses on training new drivers to haul freight and operate tractor trailers. Trainees will assist assigned driver trainers during deliveries and routes while developing essential skills for the job. Excellent communication and customer interaction skills are required to facilitate efficient service and accurate responses.Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:Completing the Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program.
Assisting driver trainers in executing deliveries and learning safe driving practices.
Conducting all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of the tractor and trailer as per DOT regulations.
Reporting safety issues and repairs as needed.
Adhering to all DOT regulations and company policies for safe driving.
Inspecting trailers for secure and safe loading of freight.
Performing count checks of loaded items and ensuring customer invoices are accurately completed.
Transporting the tractor to the loading dock and attaching preloaded trailers as required.
Driving delivery routes and handling customer orders according to the scheduled delivery timeline.
Unloading products and transporting them to designated storage areas at customer locations.
Conducting damage control checks on items and following company policy for handling damaged goods.
Verifying deliveries with customers and obtaining necessary signatures.
Collecting payment where required.
Loading customer returns onto the trailer and securing trailer doors.
Unloading damaged goods and returns and completing necessary documentation.
Maintaining a clean and organized trailer.
Recording daily hours of service and maintaining logs as per federal and state guidelines.
Performing general housekeeping duties to keep work areas tidy.
Completing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:6-12 months of commercial driving experience required.
High school diploma or equivalent is necessary.
Valid CDL A license is required.
Must meet all state licensing regulations.
At least 21 years of age.
Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
Pass a drug test and a background check after a job offer.
Valid DOT Health Card or ability to secure one.
Able to lift and utilize equipment to move products of varying sizes and weights, generally between 10-35 pounds and up to approximately 90 pounds.
