Our delivery drivers ensure that customers' products arrive at their destination punctually and in prime condition, serving as the face of our company and building lasting relationships with our clients.The Driver Trainee position is an entry-level training role where associates will learn and gain valuable experience in freight hauling and tractor trailer operation. This role involves assisting designated driver trainers with their deliveries and routes, along with professional communication and interaction with customers, vendors, and co-workers.Key Responsibilities Include:Successfully complete the Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program as required.Ride with and assist a driver trainer in executing deliveries.Perform all necessary safety checks, including pre and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer in accordance with DOT regulations; ensure compliance with company safety standards.Report any safety issues or repairs needed promptly.Adhere to all DOT regulations and follow company safe driving policies.Inspect trailers to ensure freight is loaded securely and properly.Perform count checks of items and verify customer invoices for loaded products, ensuring accuracy in all required documentation.Move the tractor to the loading dock and attach the preloaded trailer as necessary.Deliver customer orders according to the predetermined route schedule.Unload products from the trailer and transport them to designated storage areas for customers.Conduct damage control checks on items, scan them, and report necessary removals according to company policy.Verify delivery with customers and obtain required signatures.Collect payments where needed.Load customer returns onto the trailer and secure the trailer doors.Unload damaged goods and returns, completing necessary paperwork.Remove all equipment and trash from trailers as needed.Maintain daily records of hours worked and adhere to Federal DOT and company requirements.Keep the tractor and loading dock area clean and organized.Perform other related duties as assigned.Qualifications:Internal Candidates: 1 year of good standing service in the PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program with valid CDL Permit and DOT Health Card.External Candidates: 0-6 months experience with a valid CDL-A.High school diploma or equivalent is required.Must possess a valid CDL A.Must be at least 21 years of age.Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the last 3 years.Pass a post-offer drug test and criminal background check.Pass a practical road test.Valid current DOT Health Card or ability to obtain one.Able to lift and utilize equipment for moving freight cases that generally weigh between 10-35 pounds and occasionally 60-90 pounds.Company Overview:Performance Foodservice, a broadline distributor, fosters strong relationships with diverse local customers, including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries.
