JMT is seeking a Senior Inspector to perform as a senior level inspector, for work within Region 8 of the NYSDOT, in construction inspection engineering work.
Compensation is $45.00-$68.00/hour, commensurate with experience, education, and certifications.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Coordinate and supervise, in a limited capacity, project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance of plans, contract documents, specifications and standards
In a limited capacity, assign, schedule and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout all phases of the project
Prepare project inspection reports
Notify contractor of non-compliance and corrective action
Perform field tests
Interacts with the general public, contractors, sub-contractors, and other internal and external parties during the course of the construction
Work on behalf of the Client to resolve construction related field issues.

Required Skills
Strong Computer proficiency
Active driver's license
Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening
Required Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Successful prior experiences with the NYSDOT, preferably with R-8
8+ years of roadway construction inspection experience
NICET III, ACI Concrete Inspection, Work Zone Traffic Control (WZTC) training and OSHA 10Hr certifications REQUIRED
Knowledge and experience in construction techniques, reading and understanding plans and specifications, procedures, methods, equipment and materials
Qualifications preferred
Associates or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
Supervisory experience in construction management/inspection situations
Working Conditions
Work is performed in the field, within NYSDOT R-8. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work is conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, dry/arid conditions. Night and weekend work may also be required.
