This role focuses on providing patent counseling and prosecution within the life sciences sector. Ideal candidates bring a mix of technical expertise and strategic insight, contributing to patent strategy, patent applications, and patent portfolio management.Duties
Conduct prior art database searches for patentability assessments and freedom-to-operate analyses.Review and interpret patent documents, scientific literature, and technical reports to support attorneys in prosecution, counseling, and litigation.Draft patent applications and respond to office actions to maintain accurate and compliant documentation.Advise legal teams on technology and science-based issues for deposition preparation and case strategy.Requirements
Industry experience in the field of chemistry or life sciences.Strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills in English.Comprehensive scientific knowledge in chemistry or closely related fields.Registered with the USPTO as a patent agent or eligible to sit for the USPTO registration exam.Education
Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.Certifications
USPTO patent agent registration or eligibility to qualify for the USPTO registration exam.Skills
Proficiency in patent database searches and analysis for IP strategies.Skilled in drafting and editing technical and scientific documents.High attention to detail with the ability to communicate complex technical information to legal teams.Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
