Direct Counsel is seeking a
Principal Tax Attorney
with 5+ years of income tax experience for a top law firm’s Tax & Benefits practice group. This role offers a national platform and a full-service bi-coastal team, providing excellent opportunities to develop a client base and advise on complex state and federal tax issues for clients across diverse sectors.
About the Role:This position involves structuring sophisticated transactions and offering day-to-day counseling on complex income tax matters. As a key member of the team, you will work closely with attorneys and staff across the firm, benefiting from a collegial environment committed to client service and professional growth. Opportunities for management and leadership are available for candidates who are motivated to take on additional responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
Advise clients on state and federal income tax issues
Structure and negotiate complex transactions in various industries
Collaborate with a team on high-level national matters
Develop a book of business within a full-service, bi-coastal platform
Qualifications:
JD from an ABA-accredited law school and active law license
LL.M. in Tax
5+ years of relevant income tax experience
Strong academic credentials with excellent analytical and writing skills
Client-focused approach, with an ability to work independently and collaboratively
A book of business is preferred but not required
Compensation:Annualized salary range:
$170,000 to $300,000Final compensation based on experience, location, and other factors.
