Position Summary
The Senior Accountant will perform all aspects of accounting to ensure efficient processes are in place while producing monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP. This position will be a critical hands-on role for Emerald Built Environments in Cleveland, Ohio. This individual will participate in building a highly scalable, best-in-class accounting system as a key partner with the leadership team.
Key Deliverables
Prepare and manage all accounting department activities, including invoice processing, accounts payable, vendor payments, billings & collections, cashflow, fixed assets, payroll, reconciliations, some HR and benefitsMonthly financial statements prepared in accordance with GAAPOptimize, develop and monitor adherence to internal policies, procedures, and controlsPosition Responsibilities
Ensure accounting of month-end close responsibilities are completed timely; implement robust processes to ensure financial statement integrity, including balance sheet account reconciliations and income statement analysisCollaborate with internal teams and vendors to address AP-related inquiries and discrepanciesAssist with payroll process and ensure compliance with all reporting requirementsWork closely with Emerald leadership to facilitate efficient operationsIdentify opportunities for cost reduction and cost savingsSupport financial audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations and coordinating with external auditors to ensure successful engagementSupport team with key strategic and process improvement initiativesAssist with new technology implementation as neededOther duties as assignedClient Specific financial analysis and modelingPosition Requirements
Minimum
4+ years of prior accounting experience in a similar roleBachelor’s degree in accountingStrong understanding of GAAP accountingExperience with Construction/Contractor accountingExperience with new system implementationsStrong systems proficiency, ability to navigate multiple platformsStrong ability to communicate accounting and financial information using common languageExperience preparing and reviewing financial statementsExtreme organization and priority setting skillsExcellent interpersonal skills and strong attention to detail with high level of accuracyHighly motivated, able to take initiative, and comfortable working independentlyAnalytical – finds meaning and action in numbers, and is data-drivenExcellent communicator – written and oralResourceful – figures out how to creatively achieve resultsThrives in a nimble, lean, entrepreneurial environmentPositive attitude, team player, works collaborativelyImpeccable integrity and ethical standardsSelf-aware, accepting, honest, open, and respectful of othersPassion about sustainabilityPreferred
