QUALIFICATIONS:
An associate degree in an Information Technologies or related field, or two successful years of experience maintaining end-user computers in a multi-platform environment. CompTIA A+ certification desired, but not required.
REPORTS TO:
Chief Information Officer/Director of Technology
BASIC FUNCTION:
The Desktop Support Technician's role is to provide end-user desktop hardware and software support.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Troubleshoot desktop computer hardware problems up to the point of network connectivity.Troubleshoot desktop computer software problems up to the point of network connectivity.Troubleshoot other end-user technology equipment as directed.Repair and maintain desktop computer hardware as directed.Install and configure new desktop computer equipment as directed.Physical setup and basic configuration of network and desktop printers as directed.Perform basic system repairs and system upgrades when required.Travel to schools and administrative sites to perform troubleshooting and/or setup and repairs.Maintain a current, valid driver's license.Fully document desktop support in the current technology work order system as directed.Remain current on new desktop technologies to assist the district to accomplish its goals.Provide consultation and support to users within the district on a variety of issues related to desktop computers.Provide backup to the Helpdesk Support Technician.Perform related duties as assigned by the Director of Technology (including but not limited to technology inventory.)
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Beginning July 1st or upon the date designated by the board of education and continuing through the fiscal year.
EVALUATION:
Shall occur no later than May 1st each year. Evaluation will be done by the immediate supervisor.
