In this role, you will be responsible for leading the Quality and Compliance Team performing quality reviews of the Underwriting and Rating functions as well as processing audits against internal and external compliance rules. The purpose of the role is to ensure that the Underwriting Department policies and procedures maintain state and company compliance and to review performance towards adherence to published guidelines.
The QA Manager will monitor, mentor, and develop the performance of the staff and overall team as they work to execute the QA and audit processes. In addition, cultivate the relationship with our business partners to relay QA performance, provide trend data and root cause analysis, and support resolution/improvement.
You will oversee and continuously improve all aspects of the Quality Assurance area with an emphasis on supporting strategic initiatives, adapting QA programs to changing business needs, and increasing internal and external Customer satisfaction.
You will
Build a high performing culture, focused on driving the Quality Assurance and UW Compliance organization toward Best in Class.
Have oversight of daily activities, volume/capacity management, service strategy execution and performance coaching and mentoring.
Maintain a highly collaborative environment focused on building successful business relationships, employee engagement and open two-way communication.
Partner with the Underwriting management team to develop and maintain an impactful and current Quality Assurance program.
Ensure that our quality objectives are identified, monitored, reported, and achieved in support of our department requirements.
Adapt Quality program to support changing business systems and processes.
Ensure that significant quality risks within our new and ongoing products and processes are identified and mitigated through effective controls.
Identify and drive forward program enhancements and/or application or tool development that will improve QA processing, reporting enhancements and training opportunities for UW development.
Ensure existing and new UW processes are compliant with state and company mandated policies and an effective system of internal controls are established and maintained.
Work with internal compliance and audit teams to ensure UW adherence.
Drive compliance changes through Underwriting by engaging the appropriate process, technology and learning development teams.
Manage OTAR process and recordkeeping of relevant UW vendor products.
Instill a culture of urgent execution, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Identify training needs or system/process inefficiencies and proactively collaborate with appropriate teams to address.
Development of efficient and cost effective standard operating procedures and process improvements, deployment of best practices and effectively managing adherence to each.
You have
Bachelor’s degree preferred, will consider equivalent work experience.
5+ years Group Insurance experience.
Excellent leadership skills to effectively manage staff and lead virtual, cross-functional teams.
Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
Experience functioning efficiently in a results-driven environment, and leading subordinates to meet deadlines.
Underwriting knowledge of group dental, disability, life insurance, Leave and Supplemental Health is a plus.
A keen understanding of the insurance industry’s best practices, the industry’s growth patterns and trends.
Proven interpersonal skills: able to work well with clients, customers, peers, and management at all levels (officer, director, manager, supervisor).
Innovative, creative, fast learner.
Ability to motivate people and maintain a high energy level.
Ability to use excellent judgment while working with multiple priorities and deadlines.
Location /Travel
Hybrid role - 2 days in the office, 3 days WFH - Preferred locations- Guardian home offices located in Bethlehem, PA, New York NY, Stamford CT, Holmdel, NJ - or in a Guardian regional office located in Atlanta, Chicago, Boston, Newport Beach, or Piano/Dallas.
Salary Range
$84,320.00 - $138,522.50
The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
