As a Microsoft Senior Data Center IT Support Technician (DCT), you will provide IT support for secure access workstations (SAWs) laptops, servers as well as conference rooms Audio/Visual(A/V). You will also maintain inventory of spare devices for the sites and make sure the latest updates and operating systems(OS) are installed on the devices.

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a CO+I DCT, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Responsibilities

You will demonstrate expertise in standard processes and procedures, and will review process changes to evaluate their impact. You’ll also ensure compliance with Global Data Center Operations and service-level policies, and will complete assigned tickets efficiently.

You will delegate hardware installation and other work to technicians, as well as prepare and perform hardware startups and shutdowns. You’ll also ensure other technicians are performing post-execution quality checks and verifying everything is in compliance with safety protocols and deployment standards.

You will apply advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting expertise to quickly identify the causes of issues, then guide technicians to replace faulty components. You’ll also follow procedures to communicate and report any incidents, and will decommission hardware for complex changes.

You will contribute to issue tracking and client relations, help collect service metrics, and maintain an awareness of key performance indicators. You’ll also demonstrate an understanding of cross-functional support processes, and train other technicians while on the job.

You will facilitate compliance with safety procedures while following all safety, security, and data management procedures yourself. You’ll also reinforce a positive team environment by sharing information and responding to feedback.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and basic knowledge of computer hardware and components AND 2+ years experience supporting IT equipment or related technology

OR equivalent experience

Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including shift assignments during non-standard business hours that may include evening, nighttime, weekends and/or holidays.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

This position requires verification of citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local government agency customers and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate’s citizenship will be verified with a valid passport.

Preferred Qualifications:

Technical College degree in Computer Science, Math, Telecommunications, or equivalent work experience

Applicable certifications: CompTIA, Microsoft, Network Certifications

Experience operating heavy-load movement equipment (pallet jacks, chassis lifts, etc.)

Perform and execute organization’s safety programs and policies, and compliance knowledge.

Flexibility to work non-business hours (shifts) that may include weekends and/or holidays.

Valid license to drive standard street-legal automatic transmission vehicles within your DC’s local jurisdiction.

Data Center Technicians ATR-D - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $32.40 - $54.76 per hour. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $43.37 - $60.96 per hour.
