Principal Consultant, Air Quality

to join the ERM team in Irvine, CA. This is a partner-track opportunity for an air quality professional looking to further advance their career with a global environmental leader and to make a significant impact in successfully implementing ERM's global strategy.

With annual global sales in excess of $50 million, ERM’s Air Quality Service Area is one of the largest among its peers in our industry and is steadily growing at a double-digit pace.

As a senior leader on this team, you will be fully accountable for successfully selling and consulting for air quality and compliance projects to build a sustainable business locally, while networking with ERM's global Air Quality Technical Team to share best practices across the industry. The ideal candidate will be well connected in the regulatory and air permitting community and have established relationships with manufacturing, technology, oil & gas, and/or chemical companies to expand our corporate and facility-level compliance services in the sector of the candidate’s expertise in California and the Southwest.

Responsibilities:

Contribute to the development and implementation of a strategic market/business plan, provide leadership, and deliver financial results to expand ERM's Air Quality Service Area and client base.

Serve as a Senior expert for strategic air permits and compliance programs for a variety of industrial clients.

Work closely with clients and develop strong relationships to understand specific processes and develop a permitting and compliance strategy.

Manage project deliverables, budgets, and schedules as a lead for our existing teams.

As a “seller/doer,” contribute to expanding ERM’s air consulting and compliance services annually.

Capitalize on existing client relationships to expand ERM’s profile and market share.

Mentor junior and mid-level staff in the proper planning and execution of air quality projects.

Support the general growth and development of ERM’s Global Air Quality Services.

Collaborate with other ERM global practitioners to execute air quality projects.

Develop a working understanding of ERM’s other consulting service areas.

Requirements:

Bachelor of Science in chemical, environmental, or mechanical engineering or related degree.

6+ years of relevant experience.

Experience and knowledge of local, state, and federal air regulations.

Ability to lead and grow the business in a dynamic market environment.

Advanced expertise in air permitting and climate change.

Strong track record of managing project deliverables, schedule, and budgets.

In-depth understanding of the manufacturing, oil & gas, technology, and chemical industries in California.

Consistent "seller/doer" track record, including successfully winning large and strategic projects.

Ability to build, coach, and mentor collaborative teams.

Excellent communication (written/verbal), strategic thinking, negotiation, presentation, and “people” skills.

Positive outlook, collaborative, and driven by the success of ERM as a global company.

Preferred but not required:

Preferred 8+ years’ experience of solid air quality consulting experience.

Certification in field: P.E., CSP, CHMM, or similar registration.

Familiarity with stack testing and ambient air measurements.

Advanced expertise in other environmental compliance-related areas.

For the

Principal Consultant, Air Quality

position, we anticipate the annual base pay of

$115,000 – $158,400 USD . This job is also eligible for an annual discretionary based performance bonus.
