DMV's Information Systems Division (ISD) is seeking a motivated individual to serve as Technical Developer in the Deliverable Review Unit on the Digital Experience Platform (DXP) Project. The Technical Developer will support DMV's DXP applications development needs through the development of Software Application Solution Design and Development & Implementation. The Information Technology (IT) Specialist I coordinates the alignment of team activities, development stacks, design methodologies and technical innovation toward the overall DXP and ISD strategies; develops solutions using new software technologies, components, frameworks, and servers under the guidance of a technical lead/architect; performs software product deployment and release management activities to ensure project milestones are met in accordance with project plans and develops and maintains software documentation for each phase of the SDLC; maintains awareness of emerging methodologies and best practices in application and system development, evolving industry trends, standards, concepts, and practices in compliance with DMV information security standards and practices, and evaluates target platforms, technology stacks, development methodology and testability features of DMV systems and suggest improvements/enhancements and innovative ideas for implementation.
The incumbent will assist with the development of DXP customer support, procedures, and standards/best practices as well as the ability to analyze data to make development decisions related to DXP activities.
The position's primary focus is the DMV's DXP Project and related IT solutions. The incumbent assists in the development of effective solutions to customer problems and questions and efficiently answers customer inquiries to solve problems, and reviews project deliverables (drafts and finals) as assigned. This role requires experience with software engineering and an understanding of State IT project system development lifecycle (SDLC).

This Limited Term position may be extended to 24 months and may become Permanent.

Working Conditions
DMV operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The incumbent may be required to carry a work cell phone and laptop. There may also be times when the incumbent is required to attend an out-of-town conference, or work evenings and weekends to maintain project schedules.
Telework is available. Telework requires California residency.
This position may be required to occasionally report to the designated office location in DMV headquarters at 2415 First Avenue, Sacramento, California, 95818 . Travel expenses related to reporting to designated office is employee's own responsibility and is not eligible for reimbursement.
