The purpose of the Department of Campus Health Services (CH) is to provide appropriate, affordable, accessible and high quality primary health care to eligible students, and to provide a comprehensive disease-prevention and health education program within the NC State University community. The major function of Campus Health is providing outpatient care to more than 34,000 NC State students. Some level of nurse advice is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Hours of service vary during the summer and during holidays and student breaks.

Essential Job DutiesThe Physical Therapist will provide direct patient care for students of North Carolina State University that are eligible to use Campus Health Services. This is a nine-month position that will align with the NCSU Fall and Spring academic calendar (approx. August-April). Perform patient evaluation (primarily orthopedic surgical and non-surgical patients) to assess their functional capabilities, limitations and restrictions, and potential for rehabilitation. Establish and administer a treatment program with specific goals according to the patient's evaluation and capacity. Perform patient education and preventative education. Complete all required documentation and billing of services. The aforementioned will be conducted under the direction of a physician's order and the guidelines of all State, Federal, and Professional laws and regulations. Additionally, this position will be involved in team dynamics and participate in interdisciplinary activities when appropriate.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Perform and complete comprehensive evaluations and reassessments for patients utilizing current evidence based objective tests and measures.Develop and implement an individualized plan of care with measurable goals to address dysfunctions identified and patient's goals, including a home program.Administer physical therapy treatment based on an assessed plan of care, including patient education, manual therapies, non-manual therapies, and modalities as needed.Complete comprehensive documentation of all services into the Electronic Medical Record.Communicate with referring physicians and interdisciplinary team members regarding the initial evaluation, progress notes, and discharge summary.Provide patient education regarding diagnosis, treatment plan, prevention, and discharge planning.Maintain patient confidentiality and abide by HIPAA and FERPA regulations.Maintain a safe working environment by complying with departmental policies and procedures, as well as infection control protocols.Provide direction and supervision to physical therapy students and volunteers under the rules and regulations of the State Practice Acts and any other State or Federal guidelines.Plan and conduct in-service training on physical therapy and related topics for students, staff, and community groups.Maintain professional and technical knowledge by accruing continuing competence hours as stated by The North Carolina Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.Perform other duties as assigned by the Campus Health Services director, the Medical director, or the Physical Therapy director.In providing physical therapy, adhere to all State and Federal laws, as well as policies and procedures of North Carolina State University and Campus Health Services.

Other Required Qualifications

Experience working with an orthopedic patient population, including post surgical patients.Experience documenting in Electronic Medical Records.

Preferred Qualifications

Certified to perform Dry NeedlingAbility and confidence to work independently: This position will be primarily located at NCSU Campus Health on Centennial Campus.

Required License(s) or Certification(s)

Current license to practice physical therapy in North Carolina from the North Carolina Board of Physical Therapy Examiners.Current CPR license.
