The ideal candidate is an experienced and innovative person with a proven history of leading content for a team, league, network, or media company. This position is responsible for ideation, daily decision-making and distribution of content for the PGA TOUR across our Social, Digital and Original Content verticals. This role is accountable for growing our fan base, deepening engagement with our audience, promoting our players and tournaments, driving revenue and maintaining positive brand awareness through a robust daily content plan.Relationship building and team management is a vital part of this role, acting as a contact with networks, platforms, sponsors, and TOUR stakeholders. A thorough understanding of the social and digital space and what resonates with the audience on each platform, as well as keen editorial judgment and awareness, is key. The knowledge to navigate the original production process, including conceptualizing, selling, filming, editing, and delivering long and short form content is required. Leading a large group, mentoring, providing feedback and encouraging a collaborative, innovative environment is fundamental to success in the position.The Vice President, Content will report directly to the Senior Vice President, Content and Production and should be both innovative and organized, embrace change, and have a strong understanding of the PGA TOUR’s strategic narrative. This position will work across departments at the PGA TOUR on planning and coordination to ensure all groups are aligned on ideas and content decisions.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required. Broadcast, Journalism, Business Management or Communications preferred.Fifteen+ years of experience working in the sports or media industry for a production, media or technology company.Television, Digital and/or Social Content experience required.Excellent project management and partnership skills.Decisive leader who can inspire, motivate, and unify teams across various business units. Experience in a collaborative, team environment and delivering constructive, critical and inspired feedback.Strategic leader who can take concepts, develop structured plans and execute on that vision.Diverse understanding of all facets of content, from long-form documentaries to short-form storytelling.Strong story construction skills and editorial judgment; excellent written and verbal communication skills.Demonstrated excellence in creating creative short and long-form content.Proven history of managing and developing a large team with both direct and indirect reports.Self-starter with ability to succeed in a fast-paced, evolving and innovative organization.Knowledge and appreciation for the PGA TOUR and golf.Responsibilities/Duties
Daily oversight of the Social, Digital, Original Content and Content Programming groups. Ensure all teams are producing content efficiently, cohesively and aligned on our broader Brand Communications strategy.Oversight includes Social Content across the PGA TOUR, PGA TOUR Pathways and PGA TOUR Champions; PGATOUR.com and the PGA TOUR app; YouTube and FAST platforms; Ancillary network PGA TOUR programming and Original Content produced for PGA TOUR channels.Develop, create and oversee high-impact content that extends across our network partners as well as PGA TOUR Digital and Social platforms.Supervise the content process. Help guide story narratives that align with PGA TOUR Storytelling ideas and initiatives.Ability to prepare and present clear and concise content plans and schedules.Provide daily feedback on content concepts and execution, including predictive planning and reactive decision-making.Communicate and work with SVP, Content and Production throughout content and production process.Work with VP, Production to maintain accountability on all production standards for PGA TOUR Content.Liaise with PGA TOUR Sales and Solutions teams on opportunities, ideation, creation and deliverables.Lead regular meetings with content creators to prepare for upcoming tournaments, working closely with Vice President, Production, Director, Business and Content Operations and the pillar leads throughout the Content, Production and Operations team.Lead content creation, including high-level TOUR productions and tentpole content initiatives.Must be available during competition hours, evenings and weekends.Management
Oversee Original, Social, Digital Content Directors, coordinating and approving content across the group.Mentor indirect reports on the Content team, leading their development as managers and creators.Develop and encourage staff to pursue new tasks and challenges related to overall departmental goals and objectives.Contribute to departmental operations, including staffing, budget management/cost containment and internal communication.About Us
