Purpose:

Manages service operations within the dealership to maximize return on investment by optimizing Service Department processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction. Grows profitable service labor sales and exercises disciplined expense control. Attracts, retains, and effectively engages department personnel.

Responsibilities

The following are essential functions of this position:

Develops, communicates, enforces and monitors effective Service Department processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfactionCreates annual Service Department goals and budget, in alignment with the organization's financial and operational objectivesDevelops and executes Service Department marketing plan and monitors monthly to ensure achievement of departmental goalsCoordinates customer clinics, field days, and related promotional eventsSubmits all service warranty and Product Improvement Program claims within the required timeframe to receive maximum creditSchedules and assigns jobs and work areas to employees in the Service Department according to their skills and knowledgeReviews work orders for completeness and accuracy prior to customer billingEnsures all departmental tools, equipment, and vehicles are in good working orderManages recruiting, staffing and employee development activities for employees reporting to this positionBenefits:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions such as extreme heat and cold. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, fax machines etc. It also requires the use of hand tools and forklifts.

Requirements

Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:

3+ years experience in Service Department operationsAbility to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functionsAbility to write and speak effectively to individuals and groupsFamiliar with John Deere and competitive productsBasic understanding of financial principles relative to Service Department operationsAbility to analyze and interpret internal reportsAbility to work extended hours and weekendsExcellent customer service skillsHigh School Diploma or equivalent experience
