Job Summary:Responsibilities include supporting quarterly close, prepare journal entries, complete account reconciliations, research variances, assist with process documentation and ad hoc projects as assigned. Working with multiple accounting software systems (Everest, Omega, SAP) to retrieve and analyse data to verify completeness and accuracy of financial information and reports. The position will work with Operations and affiliate retro entities to research and explain variances.

Key duties and responsibilities

Analyse large volumes of data to facilitate the calculation of quarterly journal entries and determine outstanding items to be clearedPerform the calculation, preparation, and recording of journal entries during financial closeReconcile financial statement accounts as part of quarterly closeInvestigate and explain variances to expectations, prior periods and budgeted amounts.Monitor, manage and reconcile suspense items for different sub ledgers and work with other departments to ensure they will be cleared in a timely mannerPrepare quarterly/monthly fluctuation analysis providing detailed explanations of variancesWork cross-functionally to understand trends and anomalies in financial dataLearn and effectively utilize multiple accounting systems (Everest, Omega, SAP)Update and maintain process and control documentationMonitor systems and processes to ensure internal controls are in place and effectiveAssist external and internal auditor to help understand processes and provide the necessary control supportAssist with ad hoc projects for the Accounting department

Required experience & Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant work experience5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within the financial services industryStrong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to consolidate, manipulate, and analyze large sets of financial dataAbility to learn quickly and work effectively in fast paced environmentHigh attention to detail, solid analytical and critical thinking skills with strong problem-solving abilityStrong interpersonal skills along with excellent verbal and written communication skillsMust be able to work effectively as part of a team and independentlyExperience with multiple Legal Entity structure is helpful
