ABOUT THE LIBRARY
The Denver Public Library (DPL) is a growing urban library system that serves the City & County of Denver. DPL sees more than 4 million visitors every year across its 27 locations, serves Denver's most vulnerable communities through outreach and mobile services, hosts thousands of programs a year and manages a collection of more than 1.4 million physical and digital materials.

ABOUT OUR TEAM
The Service Design & Coordination Subdivision is the team within DPL's Public Services Division that develops and helps implement systemwide services for the organization. It consists of four service teams - Cultural Inclusivity, Digital Inclusion, Youth and Family Services, and Adult Services - which work closely with our Central and branch library staff to define and effectively deliver the services our community needs.
Our team office is located at the Central Library in downtown Denver; however, the nature of work is system-wide and often benefits from on-site meetings at DPL branch locations across the City.
ABOUT THE JOB
This is an opportunity for a library leader with creativity, drive and vision to join the Denver Public Library's Service Design & Coordination management team as we restructure to better serve our community. It's a role for an innovator who will lead, define, and assess the work of existing teams focused on providing services to older adults and programming for adults, as well as help us define our role in working with adults in contexts such as young adults (ages 18-25) and adult literacy.
This Manager position will work directly with their teams and closely across the organization focusing on ensuring consistency and effectiveness across all of our adult services. For example, they will work with: The Youth and Family Services Manager to build library services for the entire lifespan. Central and Neighborhood Services Managers and teams to provide Adult Services in the locations where they're most needed. Internal infrastructure teams - for example, coordinating with our Facilities and IT teams to confirm that our spaces and technology are ready to support programming and evaluation. ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a candidate with some or all of the following skills and experiences:
Expertise in leading public library adult service teams, ideally in an urban setting. An understanding of andragogy and the learning and developmental stages of adults. Experience with adult literacy. Knowledge of current library trends and technology, in particular as they relate to providing services to adults of all ages. Knowledge of managerial principles and practices. Skill in selecting, training, motivating, evaluating and supervising staff. Skill in services and program evaluation methods and best practices. Skill in creative problem solving and negotiating stressful situations in a positive manner. Ability to develop the Library's mission, values and vision into action plans for service delivery. Ability to bring positive energy, excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity and a sense of humor to the workplace. Ability to lead and guide individuals and teams and create a culture of trust and collaboration. Ability to demonstrate innovation and flexibility. Ability to manage and negotiate conflicts. Education Requirement: Master's Degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited institution. Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of experience at the type and level of functional or operational management, which must have included management of professional individual contributors. Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post high school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements. Licensures/Certification(s): None
