GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

Provides technical support to maintain Okaloosa County's information security posture, ensuring confidentiality and availability.EXAMPLES OF WORK•Assists with appliance management and monitoring to prevent data loss, service interruptions, and effectively protect the network. Monitor control centers for various hardware appliances and software applications including security awareness training initiatives and virus solutions.•Oversees and advises on installation of appliances and special projects initiated by departments and IT teams.•Performs system maintenance; verifies antivirus protection and identifies errors, malfunctions and deficiencies. Investigates and analyzes suspicious and infected devices. Guides staff toward solutions to restore data and mitigate intrusions.•Reviews policies and procedures for operational security. Educates users on procedures to implement and maintain network and data security. Manages user training via software.•Installs and integrates computer software and hardware relating to security and networks.•Performs and evaluates risk assessments and applies solutions for faults, threats and weaknesses of the Okaloosa County WAN. Assists during security audits and analysis of networks and testing.•Assists with enforcing approved configuration standards and policies for county websites and any applications running through the DMZ.•Stays informed of the latest security intelligence, including hacker's methodologies, in order to anticipate security breaches.•Applies best practices according to NIST, IEEE, SANS and other security industry standards.•Observes and enforces FDLE network security requirements and HIPAA security and compliance.•Researches, evaluates and provides recommendations for new security equipment or software according to industry standards, to include access control and security camera systems.•Follows approved disaster recovery procedures.•Must be available for critical network security support before, during, and after emergency situations and or activations.•Serves as backup to the Senior Security Administrator.•Performs other duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or closely related field supplemented by a minimum of three (3) years' progressively responsible experience in computer and network security; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Requires experience with security software and hardware, including firewall. Check Point experience preferred. Current working knowledge of NIST, IEEE, SANS and other security industry standards, best practice, and regulations preferred.

Licenses and/or Certifications:

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to exert up to 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or a negligible amount constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Physical demands are essentially those of sedentary work.

Language Ability:

Requires ability to read English, as well as technical data, policy and procedure manuals, codes, etc., ranging from moderately complex to highly technical terminology. Requires the ability to prepare forms and reports using prescribed formats, and adhering to all rules of spelling, grammar, punctuation, diction, and style. Requires the ability to communicate effectively in English. Requires the ability to communicate with a broad array of individuals from various professional backgrounds.

Requires the ability to apply principles of logical and scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, mathematical, or diagrammatic form; to make independent and logical judgments in absence of supervision; to acquire knowledge of topics related to primary occupation.

Requires the ability to add and subtract totals, multiply and divide, use decimals, calculate percentages; interpret graphs; compute ratio and proportions.

Requires the ability to deal with people beyond receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under moderate levels of stress, imposed by frequent deadlines, peak workloads, or public contact. Requires the ability to exercise consistent tact and courtesy when in frequent contact with various professionals, county staff, and the general public.
